Planning A Solo Trip? This Is Where You Should Go!

Four years ago, I was studying MSc Marketing at the University of Manchester, so I used to visit London quite often. My favourite memory of London is when I was there for Christmas and spent days shopping during the Boxing Day Sale. As a young woman, travelling alone, I found the city to be safe and bustling with life at all times of the day and night. So, when I got the chance to go back again last month, I was very excited to visit my favourite city and relive memories all over again. Here’s why you should go to London if you are planning a solo trip.

1. It is super safe!

The public transport in the city, be it buses, tubes or trains, are accessible at all times of the day and there is even an all-night tube service. Just get an Oyster card and you’d be able to swipe it on any of the transport systems. The hotels and hostels in the city are across different price ranges so you can definitely find one which suits your budget.

2. There is something for everyone here

Not just the usual sight-seeing, from stand-up comedy nights and plays being staged to food festivals and art exhibitions, whatever be your mood, you’d definitely find something very cool to attend and enjoy.

3. All things food

From the most amazing cheesy bacon fries at Fatburger, Wembley and a delicious meal of chicken burrito, salsa fries and cocktails at Las Iguanas at the London Designer Outlet, Wembley to a classic Italian meal of seafood risotto and prosecco Cafe Vergnano at South Bank (just by the river), London proved to be quite the food haven during my trip. And for you too, come rain or the sunshine, there’ll always be a quaint cafe or bustling market in London to sneak into and get a breakfast croissant and coffee.

4. The obvious sights and sounds

No matter how many times I visit London, the sight of their quintessential red buses and one glimpse of the Big Ben and Tower Bridge is enough to bring a big smile to my face. And this time around it was no different. I was sure to have my OPPO F3 plus which has two selfie cameras – one 16 MP for selfies and another wide-angle 120-degree 8 MP camera specially designed for making group selfies super-duper easy! The new bokeh effect also blurs everything in the background so that you can be the sole focus of the picture!

5. And of course, SHOPPING!

London doesn’t disappoint on this front as well. From small and vintage thrift stores scattered around town to high-end brands on Oxford street, it is a shopper’s paradise. The Pottermaniac in me did not allow me to leave London without visiting Platform 9 ¾ at King’s Cross train station. It also had a pretty souvenir store. Obviously, I went mad – it had everything I have dreamt of as a fan – the Hogwarts robes, Bertie Bott’s Every Flavoured Beans, Gryffindor diaries, feather pens, wands, socks and a lot more! Shopping is a great way to keep yourself occupied if you are travelling alone!

This post is in association with OPPO. All the photos in this post has been clicked on the OPPO F3. Along with one selfie and one group-selfie camera this camera also has the Beautify Mode. It’s basically got powerful specs together, perfect hand feel and a fashionable appearance – it’s your perfect companion! Grab your girl gang and click the perfect group selfies!
