This has been the year of some amazing fashion collaborations and a rather interesting one just sent India’s fashion community into a state of wild frenzy. In what can easily be called one of the most iconic fashion crossovers, anonymous fashion watchdog Diet Sabya has teamed up with *drum rolls* couturier Sabyasachi Mukherjee for the launch of their much-awaited merchandise collection. The tongue-in-cheek collab is equal parts irreverent and fun and the fact that they have legit managed to rope in Sabyasachi to model for them is blowing our minds at the moment.
“DIET MERCH is finally here!! And, who better to be our first launch model than the man, the myth, the legend himself @sabyasachiofficial. This is as meta as meta can get,” reads the caption on Diet Sabya’s merch launch post and well, it is truly meta max. Here is everything that has us excited about this collab. We definitely didn’t see coming:

We are amazed, to say the least, and here’s a question that we would really like to be answered on priority–how?? India’s most iconic designer, Sabyasachi Mukherjee poses in a Diet Sabya T-shirt on the topmost post on the latter’s feed. If you scroll down just a little bit, you will see other Diet Sabya posts discussing the Sabyasachi X H&M collection with brutal honesty. To get the designer model for them not too long after a forthright critique of one of his most important collections is a feat that Diet Sabya deserves ample credits for. Honestly, it shows ‘guts!’ in the fashion watchdog’s own language. However, it kinda makes us do a 360 and resurrect a question that never really died in the fashion quarters–is Sabyasachi ACTUALLY the brains behind Diet Sabya?
….And Sabyasachi’s 2021 Adventures Continue
Sabyasachi Mukherjee is definitely on a unique adventure this year. He set the ball rolling earlier in August with the much-talked-about Sabyasachi X H&M collaboration, the one that also marked his modelling debut. The Diet Sabya merch launch thus becomes the second assignment of Saybasachi’s rather interesting modelling career and we are mighty impressed by the designer’s sporty spirit here. He has teamed up the Diet Sabya T-shirt with a Bengal tiger belt from his own label, a solid polo cap, and gold-rimmed glasses. Our guess is that Sabyasachi himself has styled the look and it is safe to say that he had a gala time while he was at it. The picture says it all!
All About The Merch
The diet Sabya merch will see a phased launch and part of it has already been dropped on Creative Ideas. The first installment of the collection includes a solid black ‘Gandi copy’ T-shirt, ‘Diet Sabya’ T-shirts in white, a tote bag, a coffee sipper, and handpicked laptop stickers.
