#WeekendBinge: These 7 Horror Movies Will Scare The Living Daylight Out Of You

I’m going to make the most embarrassing confession of my life RN—I watched Band Darwaza yesterday. For the uninitiated, it’s a horror (read comedy) movie that released in 1990. I know you all must be wondering what made me think that it’s a good day to torture myself. Honestly, I have no idea! Being a major scary movies fanatic, I thought it would be a good call to indulge in some classic horror films of Bollywood as I had already watched all the new ones. If I’m being honest, I was not disappointed. I was hoping to find some purani havelis, creepy Ramu kakas, grotesque monsters, permanently lit candles and weird ladies in white sarees. And, that’s exactly what I got! Plus a terrible storyline that made no sense at all (just like my decision of watching this movie in the first place).

But, after having a good laugh yesterday, I did some intense research. Turns out, there are many underrated horror movies that I have not watched yet and some pretty good classics that I need to add to my watchlist STAT. Yes fam, even the ones who claim to be a connoisseur of the horror genre (like me), have a lot more to explore. If you too think that you have seen it all, then you have to read this list to prove yourself wrong.

7 Horror Movies That You CAN NEVER Watch Alone

From classic, new, underrated to really disturbing and real-life based, here are seven horror movies that only people with strong hearts can binge-watch this weekend.

CAUTION: Major creep ahead so proceed only if you love risks in life.

Or, if he’s the hero of his own creepy show.

Hereditary

Home is where the heart…sorry, where the horror is. You never know what happens behind closed doors and the secrets that a perfect family hides. Hereditary explores that darkness by featuring a grieving family who faces a series of tragic events after losing their matriarch. You won’t be able to leave your screen even for a second because it’s gripping AF!

The Strangers

There are no paranormal activities involved in this one, but that does not mean that you won’t shriek every two minutes. The Strangers is about a couple stuck in a creepy house with really, really dangerous guests. The worst part? The couple does not know that they’re expecting anyone. What makes this movie even more haunting is the fact that it’s inspired by true events that took place when serial killer, Charles Mansion, was on loose.

Silent House

Again, this movie is based on real events that took place in Uruguay and that makes it scary AF! A woman is renovating her old family house with the help of her father and uncle. 1920

Bollywood has a few beautiful gems when it comes to horror movies and 1920 is one of them. It revolves around reincarnation, obsessive lover, revenge, lust and faith. It’s dramatic, but one of the best scary films of recent time.

Darna Mana Hai

Long, long before Ram Gopal Verma started making movies like Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag, he made movies like Darna Mana Hai. A bunch of friends start a bonfire in the middle of a forest and do what friends do the best in such situations—share ghost stories. The movie will take you through six scary stories that have really, really dark endings. But, none of that beats the one that we see at the end of the film.
