If there’s one thing we start planning even before the wedding venue is finalised, it’s the bridal dress. From tiring visits to Chandni Chowk to visiting designer boutiques for inspiration, the hunt for that perfect joda is a massive task. It’s a damn big deal and brides as well as wedding professionals get that. No wonder then that recently a bridal gown broke a world record!
At the Sì Sposaitalia Collezioni fashion show, which was held in Mila, a bridal fashion brand broke the Guinness World Record by unveiling a wedding dress adorned with at least 50,890 Swarovski crystals. The brain behind this masterpiece is an Italy-based brand, Michela Ferriero that specialises in luxury and bespoke wedding dresses.
The gown is a work of art and lucky will be the girl who gets to wear it! Check it out:
About The Process
According to the Guinness World Record, the dress has a strapless bodice with a sweetheart neckline. It is made with a delicate transparent material in a form-fitting silhouette with a long cape-like trail added on the shoulders. In addition to this, the wedding gown also features a pair of long gloves that are doused in crystals.
Furthermore, it took the brand at least four months of planning and dedication to create this record-breaking dress. The creation was designed by the co-founder Michaela Ferriero himself and included researching the kind of material that can be used to bring his vision to life.
They of course had to make sure that the foundation was strong enough to hold such an elaborate number of crystals on the bodice. So they first started by individually painstakingly sewing the crystal into the tulle of the dress, crystal fringes on the bodice, and gloves. At last, they sewed crystal chains at the back of the dress ‘to provide a cascade of light’. It took them 200 working hours to sew each crystal on the dress.
This dress is sure to make any woman feel like a queen on her special day, right?
