Vidya Balan Reveals A Producer Once Made Her Feel Ugly & Here’s How She Got Back At Them

What are the first few things that come to your mind when you hear Vidya Balan’s name? One of the finest actresses in Bollywood? Complete entertainer? Stunning AF? Well, same! We use many beautiful words to describe her and ‘ugly’ is certainly not one of them. Are you wondering what we’re talking about? We are talking about the stupidity of an inefficient producer, who had the audacity to make Vidya doubt her looks.

During a recent interview with a leading daily, the Sherni actress revealed that once in her career, she was replaced in several movies abruptly. A few producers not just ousted her from their films, but were creepy enough to make her feel ugly as well. This ordeal took a toll on Vidya’s mind and broke her spirit for a while. It’s infuriating that a bunch of irrelevant people were blind enough to make someone as talented as the actress feel insecure about herself. We’re glad that she has revealed the names of these unprofessional filmmakers and we hope that they learn their lessons.

Vidya shared that there was a low phase in her career when she was dropped from more than a dozen movies in a short span of time. During one such replacement, the producer’s words affected her gravely and she couldn’t cope with it for months. “When one producer replaced me in a film, their behaviour with me was very bad. They made me feel so ugly that for six months, I could not gather the courage to look at myself in the mirror,” she said.

Interestingly, the same shameless filmmakers now want to work with the actress and have called her to collaborate. Obviously, she has turned them down and made sure that they realise their fault. Kudos Vidya! We hope that her rejection makes them realise how inefficient they were at their task.

While talking about another similar incident, Vidya revealed that around 2004, she had signed two movies with filmmaker K Balachander. But, she was unprofessionally dropped from his movies without any information or discussion. She said, “I got to know that I was also replaced in Balachander’s film and I was not even informed. I could sense something was wrong because we were supposed to go to New Zealand for the shoot but they hadn’t even asked for my passport. When my mom called Balachander’s daughter, we got to know that I had been replaced.” Seriously, when will the entertainment industry realise that they need to do away with their superficial demands and respect real talent?

Vidya didn’t let these arrogant filmmakers get away with their misogynistic behaviour and is ruling Bollywood right now. We are excited to see her along with Shefali Shah in Jalsa, that’s releasing on Amazon Prime on March 18.
