We witnessed some of the most beautiful celeb weddings in the past few months and we want to declare 2021 as the year of love. RajKummar Rao-Patralekha Paul tied the knot after dating for 11 years and re-established our faith in sacha pyaar. Dia Mirza surprised everyone by getting hitched in an intimate ceremony with Vaibhav Rekhi and Yami Gautam-Aditya Dhar did something similar as well. Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif made us witness one of the most happening shaadis ever and it’s safe to say that we’re ending 2021 on a dhamakedar note.
Well, all these weddings also made us realise one thing—red has been the bridal colour of the year and our B-town dulhans have given us several looks to bookmark. While it is impossible for us to choose a fave, we are defs crushing extra hard on Kat’s D-day outfit. From the vermillion shade of the lehenga to its traditional appeal, everything about her outfit had our heart. The actress recently shared some pics on her Instagram handle and we got the first look of the bride walking down the aisle as a bride. TBH, we’re floored. Also, we would have loved to get a glimpse of Vicky’s priceless reaction when he saw his partner in her bridal glory for the first time. Sabyasachi Mukherjee, who designed the couple’s wedding outfits, recently revealed that they had not seen each other’s shaadi ka joda before the grand ceremony. NGL, given their complementing attires, we wouldn’t have guessed this ever!
While talking to Vogue India, the ace designer revealed that he worked on their outfits separately and the fact that their visions were perfectly aligned, helped his team significantly. He said, “The bride and groom didn’t see what the other was wearing until the day of the wedding, so it was beautiful to witness how in sync their visions were even as we worked on their ensembles, separately.”
Sabyasachi’s team had shared Katrina’s wedding look on their social media handle and explained the intricate work on her lehenga in the caption. They wrote, “The bride Katrina Kaif wears a classic Sabyasachi red bridal lehenga in handwoven matka silk with fine tilla work and meticulously embroidered revival zardozi borders in velvet.” Vicky, on the other hand, complemented her attire by donning an ivory silk sherwani with intricate marori embroidery all over it. The golden touch to his outfit was added by Sabyasachi handcrafted gold plated Bengal Tiger buttons.
The actress paid homage to her hubby’s Punjabi roots by wearing a custom-trimmed veil that flaunted handmade kiran in hand-beaten silver, electroplated in gold. It matched perfectly with Vicky’s tussar georgette shawl decorated with a zari marori embroidered pallu and borders.
Sabyasachi also added that Kat was very clear with her thoughts and he could understand her requirements quite easily. He said, “Katrina is methodical and meticulous, and that made it easy for me to interpret their vision through my aesthetic.” Well, we have to say that the designer and his team understood the couple’s needs perfectly and did more than a splendid job with their gorgeous outfits.
Kat and Vicky looked like a prince and princess and their shaadi album reminds us of a beautiful fairytale. It also gives us a glimpse of their relationship and how strong their bond is. Their hearts and thoughts are beautifully aligned and we hope that it stays this way forever. *Touchwood*
