Tone That Bod! Your Bollywood Playlist To Burn Those Calories

For some of us, hitting the gym to work out is the most dreaded part of our day. After all, who wants to trade comfy PJ’s for a pair of wedgie-prone yoga pants? Who wants to give up a day of lazing around watching rom-coms for sweating on the treadmill? And to top all that, listening to Lady Gaga drone on and on about Alejandro is not great fun!

Imagining yourself in your new body-con dress will get you out of the door, but that’s never enough push to burn 700 calories.  If you enjoy your workout, it becomes a less scary task. Next time, try this − tune into our very own Bollywood music to get your groove on and some gym-spiration! We start you off with 3 songs, 3 machines and three workout routines.

[Warning: This list is not for the faint-hearted. It is reserved only for the most cheesy, Bollywood fan who is perpetually bored at the gym. Induces major pelvic action, and gyration!]

1. Chikni Chameli

Forget about Munni and Sheila, we say root for Chikni Chameli because if you want a figure like THAT, then the treadmill is your best friend! Alternate between brisk walking, slow jogging and running like mad for a total of 45 minutes and you can burn anywhere from 300-600 calories.

2. Saadi Gali

Nothing like good old Punjabi bhangra and RDB beats to get your shoulders swinging left and right on the elliptical machine. Alternate between increasing and decreasing resistance (pedal backwards on your 3rd increase) for 30 minutes and you can burn about 200-300 calories.

3. Tera Naam Japdi Phiran

If you want limbs like Deepika Padukone, the stationary bicycle is your machine! Or even better ride outdoors! To make the most out of your workout, aim for a 20-30 minute session, alternating between medium-high and low resistance. Sit when pushing hard, but stand up and pedal on low resistance to torch anywhere between 200-300 calories.
