Ayushmann Khurrana is a versatile actor who never goes by the textbook. He doesn’t shy away from taking scripts and roles that are challenging as well as controversial. From portraying the role of a sperm donor in Vicky Donor to a man with erectile dysfunction in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, the actor has done it all. And this National Award-winning actor sure has come a long way since his debut.
Recently, the trailer of Ayushmann’s upcoming film Dream Girl was released, in which the actor is playing the role of a small-town guy who can talk in voices of different women. He, subsequently, is seen taking up a job as a call girl and names himself as Pooja. We also see glimpses of Ayushmann romancing his co-star Nushrat Bharucha in the trailer.
Directed by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms and directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, Dream Girl promises to be a laugh riot.

The movie’s basic premise is based on a comedy of errors and manages to evoke laughter amidst all the confusion based on Ayushmann’s pseudo-identity as a woman. The netizens loved the trailer and have given their verdict on Twitter. And what followed (expectedly) was a series of memes, which BTW were funnier than the trailer. LOL!

In an interview during the trailer launch, Ayushmann Khurrana said that the film has been his most “fearless” portrayal till date: “In our country, there has been a tradition, whenever Ramleela happens, a boy becomes Sita. But we never gave this any importance. This doesn’t happen anywhere but in India. I want to do films which tell our lesser talked about stories. The character that Raaj (director of Dream Girl) has written is unbelievable. I don’t think I’ve done any film being this fearless. I’ve usually played in subtlety but this one is out there and a lot of fun,” he added.
Calling himself a director’s actor, Ayushmann said he just followed Raaj’s vision and is hopeful that the audience will appreciate his attempt: “I am a director’s actor. I look at them and follow. It was the case here as well. You also have to sound like a woman so that men are also going gaga over you. When I read this script I couldn’t wait at all, for what if this goes to someone else. I wanted to tread in a different territory altogether and this was right up there.”
Dream Girl is slated to release on September 13 this year.
