All it took Mona Singh to establish her place in the industry was her first TV serial Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin in 2003 and she has been a loved actress ever since. Not many people are lucky enough to get their ‘big break’ in their first attempt. Almost two decades later, there’s no stopping her. From countless TV serials to now web series and hit Bollywood movies like 3 Idiots and Mission Mangal, Mona has done nailed it all.
Recently, with her comeback on season 3 of the web series Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain on Alt Balaji, Mona revealed how opposite she is from her character on the show in real life and the challenges that come with playing Ananya. Oh, and she also opened up about her low-key wedding to boyfriend Shyam Gopalan. Finally, Mona darling’s secret is out!
Her wedding with Shyam, who is an investment banker at the Juhu Military Club, was a low-key affair and took place only a few months ago on December 27, 2019. It was attended only by family members and close friends from the TV industry including Gaurav Gera, Rajesh Khera, Rakshanda Khan and Ashish Kapoor. Talking to Bollywood Life about keeping her wedding under the rugs, Mona revealed:
“I was never someone who liked to talk about my personal life in public. I would never do something like reveal dates in the media or discuss how I was planning my wedding. My family and friends knew I was dating Shyam. They were happy about it. I had lots of fun at my sangeet. My friends and family members were with me. That is all that mattered.“
Well, that makes sense. A lot of celebrities prefer keeping their private lives private and not attract unnecessary media attention. And with famous people, it gets all the more difficult to keep things intimate. The most obvious example of this would be Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s wedding.
Speaking of famous people, Mona went on to talk about how she’s making the most of her lockdown days and spending quality time with her husband–something which otherwise would not have been possible with long working hours and busy shoot schedules. “t has been great so far. I don’t think we could ever get such time with one another. We read, cook and clean the house together. Usually, when we work, it is a 12-hour shoot, and you can do just one meal together. Plus, there is travel. I don’t think we will get this kind of time together ever,” she told the entertainment portal.
Recently, they toasted to their five-month anniversary with some champagne in the gorgeous backdrop of a setting sun in Mumbai. Well, at least, some people are enjoying staying at home. Silver linings!
