Shweta Tiwari, Tina Dutta & Other TV Actresses Who Have Gotten Out Of Abusive Relationships

Recently, in an interview with a leading daily, Uttaran actress Tina Dutta spoke about her five-year abusive relationship with someone from outside the industry. The man in question abused Tina both physically and verbally. The two had met through common friends and Tina revealed that her boyfriend used to abuse her in front of them as well. However, she initially wanted the relationship to work, but eventually gave up when she realised it wouldn’t.

While highlighting her future personal life plans, she said, “I want to settle down and not go about having affairs and then nursing heartbreaks. I have always wanted a love marriage, but God is not sending anyone my way. I don’t want to marry someone from the industry, especially an actor, as the relationship will be marred by insecurities. I have seen several failed marriages between actors.”

It’s not just Tina, many other television stars have also been in tumultuous relationships and have bravely spoken about it. Here are a few names.

Kasautii Zindagii Kay fame Shweta Tiwari poured her heart out in interviews. She spoke about her abusive marriage to her former husband Raja Chaudhary, that lasted for 14 years. In her statements, Shweta claimed that Raja would come home drunk and harm her physically. In her interview with a leading daily, she said, “When I got married to Raja in 1999, I was 19; I was too young to understand that he was not the right guy for me. Your husband should be able to respect you; he cannot be financially dependent on his wife. I just thought you only need to like a person to marry him, which is quite naïve. My mother opposed Raja as my choice, but I didn’t listen to her.”

Even during their marriage, she reported against Raja for physical and verbal abuse to the police many times. Shweta is now married to actor Abhinav Kohli and is a proud mother of two children, Palak and Reyansh. She is currently working on a Bollywood film, Six X.
