If you’re on Instagram, you’ve probably noticed those liner trends filling your feed. Call it the Euphoria effect – or blame it on masks covering the lower half of our face for the past two years – but fun eyeliner is flourishing. And the latest iteration taking over social media is blowing minds. Introducing “transparent graphic liner,” i.e., the #nomakeupmakeup eyeliner trend.
The trick here is to use concealer to carve out a fierce winged liner look. Yup, Instagrammers have booted basic black eyeliners to the curb and have instead opted for concealers. Ready to give the trend a go? Here’s everything you need to know about this #seethrough eyeliner trend.
Sleek, Chic, On Fleek: Here’s How You Do The Transparent Graphic Liner Trend
If you’ve been paying attention to any of the hottest fashion trends of 2022, you’ll know that all things transparent/sheer/see-through are receiving a lot of love, right now. From sheer lace bustier favoured by Camila Cabello to sheer dresses worn by the likes of Kendal Jenner – we just can get enough of these nearly-naked outfits. But why should our makeup miss out on all the fun? One content creator took to IG to share the lowdown on the transparent graphic liner trend. In case you’ve missed out, her stripped-bare version of the classic wing doesn’t use the classic black eyeliner – no, it uses concealer to create the wings of your dreams.
The goal here is to not limit your concealers to hide dark circles and snatch cheekbones – they can do a lot more. Instead, swap out your go-to black liner for a creamy concealer that’s one or two shades lighter than your regular concealer shade. Keep in mind that the lighter you go, the more your liner’s going to pop. Here’s a 2-step guide to try the trend.
Step 1: Prime Your Lids
Prepping and setting the eye area is the key because the skin under your eyes is delicate. So start off with a hydrating serum to prep the base. Then, prime your lids with an eyeshadow prime to make sure it’s long-lasting.
Step 2: Wing It!
Next, take a flat-angle brush. Dip it in concealer and then draw a thin line starting from your lower lash line to the centre of your eye to create an empty wing shape. To complete the look, gently pat the concealer into the skin and then blend outwards for a seamless finish. Finish it off with a loose setting powder.
One word: Bomb! Are you gonna try the uber-cool eyeliner trend?
