You know how people say that change is the only constant? It seems that everyone in the world believes that except our television industry. There’s no other explanation as to why Indian TV shows are still adamant about using age-old concepts that simply don’t work. Are you wondering where we’re heading with this? We are talking about swayamvars-based reality shows aka forced (read fake) matchmaking.
Rakhi Sawant was the first celeb to choose her husband on national television and TBH, we thought that she was serious about it. But, after her quick breakup, we were convinced that Rakhi Ka Swayamvar was apparently a sham. The trend did not stop there, and Rahul Mahajan and Ratan Rajpoot were next to find their partners through this process. In fact, Paras Chhabra and Shehnaaz Gill were the latest celebs to jump on the wagon and find their ideal matches through a reality show. ICYMI, the series was shelved midway because it was a big-time disaster. It seems that Indian TV show makers have still not learned their lesson and are back with another series called Swayamvar – Mika Di Vohti. That’s right, this time it is singer Mika Singh who will find his wife on national television.

Mika shared the promo of the series on his Twitter handle recently and revealed that it would air soon on Star Bharat. The show will feature him along with several other female contestants and the makers have asked all the interested people to register their names before May 9.
While talking about beginning a new chapter of his life, the singer said, “Over the years my songs have been a part of millions of weddings. I have sung solos and I have sung duets. But ab life mein duet karne ka mann karta hai. Kyunki maza toh apne ke saath hi aata hai (But now I want my life to be like a duet because life is enjoyable only with your loved ones).”
In the past, we have seen celebrities break their relationships soon after their swayamvars are over. We sincerely hope that it’s not the case with Mika Di Vohti and the singer is serious about finding his jeevan saathi. Well, we wish him all the luck and hope that we have a good time watching him choose his partner as well.
