Bride in breastplate

This Pakistani Bride Wore A Breastplate For Her Reception & We’re Obsessed!

Just when I thought that nothing could outdo the virality of Vicky Kaushal vibing to Obsessed, Uorfi Javed proved me wrong. The social media sensation made a red-carpet appearance in a metallic-hued breastplate with a half-draped sari and the digital world became “obsessed” with her bold-as-brass (literally) fashion statement. But just when I thought that this was the ultimate rendition of Suneet Varma’s controversial-yet-iconic ensemble from the 90s, I came across a Pakistani bride rocking the breastplate-sari combo at–wait for it–her wedding reception! Take a look at how she nailed this rather unconventional outfit choice on her big day:

Misha Japanwala, an artist-cum-fashion designer, who believes in redefining women’s relationship with their bodies through these breastplates played the artist and the muse at her wedding after-party. She paid homage to her signature creation by pairing it with a bespoke antique gold sari by Karachi-based designer Rizwan Beyg, bold gold jhumkas and the classic tikka-paasa combination for the win.

Misha’s Wedding-Week Looks

For her wedding wows, Misha wore her Nani’s 62-year-old off-white sari with a Banarasi blouse and heirloom jewellery. The nostalgia-filled ensemble seemed perfect against the dreamy beachside backdrop.

Misha opted for a multi-coloured lehenga with a one-shoulder blouse and a statement ponytail wrapped in gold wires that screamed “fun” for her mehendi ceremony. The artist kept it fuss-free and simple and enjoyed the festivities to the core.

Misha’s haldi ceremony outfit was all things bright and feisty just like the artist herself. She paired an orange gota-work kurta with flared gold pants and a net dupatta. Her floral jewellery was definitely the highlight of her look and we’re in love.

Misha’s outfit choice for her nikkah was an interesting mix of contemporary floral print and traditional gold border. She completed her romantic look with loose curls and minimal accessories.

While we absolutely loved all her wedding looks, her breastplate on the reception day took the cake. It was bold, unconventional, and artistic–just like the bride herself. Don’t you agree?
