Can you name anything better than chilling in your bed, ordering your favourite food and vegging out? Sounds like a treat right? But the only pinch in this plan is how expensive it is to order food online. Luckily, I have discovered something that will save you loads of money on your food deliveries. Let’s talk about the new hero of the virtual catering world—ONDC.
Open Network for Digital Commerce or ONDC is all set to change online food delivery and I am here for it. It costs way less than food-delivery majors Zomato and Swiggy. Don’t believe it? Here’s proof:
What Makes ONDC So Much Cheaper?
While ONDC isn’t an app, it is a network that allows restaurants to sell their food directly without any middlemen. It is backed by the Indian government and it connects the customers to eateries directly. That’s why its prices are much lower than Swiggy, Zomato or other apps. You can check out the platform right here.
Let’s say you ordered a plain Margherita pizza, it will cost you over Rs 190 from Zomato and Swiggy. But it will cost you Rs 156 from ONDC. Here’s the difference:
Through ONDC, restaurants don’t have to pay a middleman cut to big businesses and it makes the food cheaper. You will get the same food but with so much lower rates. Here are more examples of people who tried ONDC:

The way UPI took away the monopoly of US based Master Card & Visa, ONDC will drastically bring down overpriced food and also goods sold on Amazon, Flipkart, Zomato etc.

How To Order From ONDC?
All you have to do is order food or a product from the ONDC platform via an app like Paytm. The partners for the platform are Paytm, Meesho, Magicpin, Mystore, Craftsvilla, and Spice Money.
Simply place the order directly and viola you are all set. Here’s how I tried it:
While the platform is looking for expansion, as of now ONDC service is available in Bengaluru and other limited areas near it. But soon it will be spreading to other cities.
I can’t wait to treat myself to an online dinner date ‘coz I am going to be saving so much. What a treat!
