It’s shaadi season in India and I’m sure you’ve been invited to a bunch of weddings already. Three of my best friends are tying the knot next month and I’m already thinking about what I’m going to wear and how I’m going to do my makeup. Unfortunately, the dry winter has really taken a toll on my skin. The skin on my body feels extra dry and flaky no matter how much moisturiser I use. While I have my face care routine nailed down to a T, it is the skin on my body that needs a little extra TLC. I’ve been seeing shimmer body oils make the rounds on the internet but I didn’t want to splurge. So I did what I do best, I found an inexpensive solution. I made a DIY shimmer body oil with the help of some skincare and makeup products I already own. And let me just say, it turned out pretty well.
What Are Shimmer Body Oils?
A shimmer oil is your trusty body oil with a dash of shimmer. The end goal is dewy skin that has a noticeable glow whenever light hits it.
How To Make A DIY Shimmer Body Oil
Gather Your Products
You can use any body oil you own or simply opt for a carrier oil like coconut or almond oil. The next thing you need is an old powder highlighter or a liquid highlighter.
Mix It Up
Fill a clean spray bottle with your carrier oil. Now, add your highlighter. If you’re using a powder highlighter, make sure you crush it to remove any clumps and then add it to the oil bottle.
Shake & Glow
Close the bottle and shake it to combine the body oil and highlighter. Now, simply apply it to your body and watch how your skin glows.
