As a curly-haired woman, I’m not very fond of the monsoon. I suffer from monsoon skin allergies and my curls always become frizzy and dull. To top it all, this pandemic has made me even more anxious about visiting salons. On the bright side, I’ve started to experiment more with beauty DIYs and so far, it’s been an interesting journey. From making my own lavender bath salt to tweezing my own eyebrows at home, this lockdown phase has made me so atmanirbhar.
One certain DIY hair treatment I’m currently obsessed with is the hot oil treatment. Not only does it improve the texture of my curls, but it also keeps the frizz at bay. Here’s how to make your own hair treatment product with the ingredients you may already have at home.
If I may add, this particular hot oil treatment isn’t only meant to treat your curls, you can also use it on your scalp. Providing your hair with nourishment, vitamins and fatty acids, this treatment is bound to nurse your hair back to health.
Here’s What You Need:
How To Do It
Step 1: In a stainless steel container, add 2 tbsp of almond oil, 1 tbsp of olive oil, 2 tbsp of castor oil, 1 tsp of jojoba oil.
Step 2: Use a toothpick to mix all the oils together.
Step 3: Place the stainless steel container on top of another vessel that contains plain water.
Step 4: Turn on the heat to medium and allow the mix to heat for 8-10 minutes.
Step 5: Turn off the heat and let it come down to a lukewarm temperature.
Step 6: Pour the oil mix into an empty spray bottle.
Step 7: Give it a gentle shake and it’s now ready to use!
Step 8: Spray all over your hair and use your finger to spread the product on your hair and scalp. Massage your scalp in circular motions.
Step 9: Wrap your hair up with a warm damp towel and let the oil sit for 30 minutes.
Step 10: Wash your hair with a shampoo and conditioner after that.
How many times to do it in a month? Twice is good enough. These oils will keep your locks soft and frizz-free (especially during the monsoons). You got this! And oh, you can thank us later.
