In 2010, Zareen Khan made her way into Bollywood with Veer and everyone had only one thing to say—is she Katrina Kaif’s lookalike? It was uncanny how similar the two looked and in no time comparisons were drawn. Recently, the Ready star opened up on comparisons with Kat and how it impacted her.
Zareen’s ‘Ask me Anything’ session on Reddit was full of honest confessions about Bollywood. During the sesh, a Redditor asked her, “Hi Zareen, People compared you a lot with Katrina Kaif in your early days in Bollywood. How did it make you feel and did it have any impact on your career?“
Zareen responded, “Hi ,So when I entered this industry , I was literally like a lost child since I don’t come from a filmy background so it made me feel really happy being compared to Katrina as I was her fan too and found her really pretty. But it backfired on my career as the people of this industry din’t give me a chance to prove my individuality.“
It takes courage to admit that your career didn’t turn out in the way you had hoped. I am proud of Zareen for her refreshing honesty.
In a February 2021 interview, Zareen admitted that even before her film’s release people started comparing her to Katrina. She said, “Honestly, I don’t even know from where it had creeped out. Even before my pictures or my interviews came out, a random picture, from my Facebook account, was being circulated with claims that she looks like Katrina.“
I am glad Zareen managed to make space for herself in Bollywood. It was a tough journey for her but she did the best!
