Yes, we are aware of the fact that wedding planning can make the most calm woman also lose her cool and turn into a bridezilla. So just so you remain easy breezy and make the most of this phase, we have a list of things a bride should never do during wedding planning, on D-day or immediately after her wedding. They’ll help you through it all, we promise.
1. Be stuck up and shop from expensive stores only
If your budget allows you to go out of your way and shop for designer wear then it’s fine. But if it doesn’t, we suggest you to save your expenses here! Don’t go overboard with your expenditure and find good alternatives to that gorge designer lehenga.
2. Make a big hue and cry about each and every detail of the wedding
Accept it; all things will not go as per your plan. There will be some errors, and mishaps are bound to happen. Some things will be in your control and you will be able to fix them, whereas others will not be in your control. If things cannot be fixed, forget it and enjoy the moment. It is your wedding and don’t let one small thing spoil your mood.
3. Skip meals
We cannot tell you how important it is for you to eat and stay energised during your wedding planning and the functions. You will not put on weight and your outfit will not get tight for you immediately after one meal, we assure you that.
4. Wear new footwear on D-day
To avoid wobbling while walking down the aisle or getting blisters because of new footwear, we suggest you to put on that pair and break into it well before the big day.
5. Try new makeup on the special day
Your wedding functions are really not the day for you to experiment and try new makeup. Stick to the cosmetics you have already tested and tried on your skin and don’t try anything new on your wedding day. Also, do not let your makeup artist try a new look on you, make sure you have had a trial session with her beforehand.
6. Not be wise about drinking
Nobody is saying that you cannot drink at your wedding. But yes, it is recommended to not over-drink during your wedding functions. You will not only have a horrible hangover the next day, you will also not be able to enjoy the most important day of your life. Our suggestion is to drink, dance and go crazy but only till a point where you can handle it well.
7. Be rude to people due to all the wedding stress
There are various things running in your head on and around your wedding day but it isn’t a good idea to be angry at and be rude to your friends and family. Being a bride doesn’t give you the license to be mean. Your friends and family are around you to help out. Be nice to them.
8. Eat or drink dark foods
Foods and drinks like red wine, red sauce pasta and melted chocolate can cause you to stain your teeth and lips. Avoid these food items on your wedding day.
9. Not pee during the functions
Indian wedding lehengas are difficult to carry and the can-can also makes it heavy to move around in. You will need help from your sisters and friends to help you lift the lehenga while you use the washroom. Put aside your shame for a minute and let them help you. It will get difficult for you to use the washroom once the rituals start.
10. Try to take charge of everything
Delegate duties to your friends and family. You will not be available at all times for the planners and caterers to contact you for every question and doubt.
11. Attempt a crash diet and overexercise
There is a difference between being skinny and being fit. Choose to be healthy, fit and toned for your wedding over being skinny, we say.
12. Skip the thank you cards
Your guests have taken out time just to be there at your wedding. You obviously wouldn’t have been able to spend enough time with all of them during the wedding functions. Remember to send them a personalised thank you note after your wedding. This will be a sweet memory with them, ladies.
13. Not sleep well
There’s a reason why they call it beauty sleep, right?
14. Forget to enjoy the big day
Don’t get so boggled with the wedding madness that you forget to enjoy your own wedding!
