I’m in awe of all the Bollywood beauties who walked down the ramp at Cannes this year. From Deepika Padukone to Hina Khan, every Bollywood diva did a fine job at grabbing eyeballs. Sure, some of them made some interesting fashion choices but I’m more concerned about their makeup looks. Not one of them played it safe! All I saw was glitter, smokey and coloured liner styles. The best part is that they’re not difficult to replicate! All it takes is a little skill, patience and your trusty makeup products to get the job done.
1. Gold Weds Silver
Gold lids, silver dress, GUTS to the next level. I don’t think anyone would be able to pull this metallic look off other than Hina. The half black liner teamed with gold glitter on the lids and softly smudged kohl on the waterline – Hina looked phenomenal at Cannes! AND those dark, long lashes were to die for.
2. A Soft Warm Brown Smokey
This Cannes makeup look of Deepika Padukone’s was what I loved the most. It’s so soft, subtle and fresh. The beauty about this trend is that you don’t need to loop in a professional MUA to do a light brown smokey eye for you, you can do it by yourself at home. Keeping your lashes as the main focus, make sure that each lash is coated with thick mascara. Brush a soft wash of brown eyeshadow on both, your upper and lower lids. Just like Deeps, you too can add a tiny bit of sparkle to your inner corners to make those eyes pop.
3. You Had Me At Shocking Pink…
I admire a woman who can pull off a bold lip and eye makeup together. Diana Penty has my heart here. Her makeup screams fushia and syncs well with the rest of her outfit. If you do end up replicating this look, you can leave it as it is after applying the pink eyeshadow or you can layer it with a sharp wing eyeliner design – both will work amazingly.
4. Channel Your Inner Cat Woman
Kangana aka Rani of Bollywood sure knows how to turn heads wherever she goes. While the rest of her makeup look is kept subtle here (Hello, nude pout!), it’s actually her eye makeup that’s doing all the talking. A classic cat-eye is exactly the kind of eyeliner trend you need to wear if you intend to dress to impress.
5. A Misty Affair Ft. Sonam Kapoor
A new way to pull off a smokey eye is to do it on the outer corners and extend this to your waterline. Don’t forget to add glitter to your inner corners so that it balances your eye makeup look out. For finishing touches, mascara or falsies will do wonders.
6. That Negative Space Eyeliner Though
More than that poppin’ jawline, PeeCee’s negative space eyeliner steals all the attention here. If you’re already a pro at wingin’ it, then you might as well try doing a negative space eyeliner. It’s different, it’s sexy, it’s so gorgeous – just like you!
7. Silver Is The New Black
If you’re into heavy makeup, take inspo from Aish! She looked like a goddess at Cannes. Her lashes are fluffed up, a silver line of shimmer starts from the inner corner and slowly fades away into the darkness when it reaches the centre of the lids. Not to mention, she’s also got a thick spread of kohl on her waterline to draw even more attention to her silvery eye makeup.
