Midway: The Movie About The Battle Of Midway Is A Must-Watch For History Buffs

There’s so much about world history that we do not know. Every book, movie or article that tells us a different tale of the days that have gone by. If you are as much of a history fiend, you might want to catch Midway this weekend.

The movie tells us the real-life story of The Battle Of Midway, fought on June 3-6, 1942. It gives us a deeper look into the experiences of the WWII leaders and sailors who fought it. The three-day battle by sea and air concluded in the US Navy triumphing over a much stronger (numerically) Japan at Midway Atoll in the Pacific Ocean.

The film begins with the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1961, going into the battle of Midway Atoll, six months later. It follows three storylines, depicting three interwoven perspectives on the battle. One is the pilots aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise; the second storyline follows the critical work of Naval Intelligence at  Pearl Harbor. The third storyline centres on the Japanese officers, and their perspective on the battle and the loss it incurred.

This film has a stellar star cast that includes Ed Skrein (known for his role as Daario Naharis in Game of Thrones), two-time Tony Award nominee Patrick Wilson, Luke Evans (known for his role as Gaston in Beauty and the Beast), Aaron Eckhart, Nick Jonas, with Mandy Moore, Dennis Quaid and Woody Harrelson.

If you have an interest in world history and know about the repercussions of World War II, then this is the movie you should catch this weekend. This is a story that celebrates the triumph of the underdog with heavy historical evidence. A history lesson with strong visuals and a different perspective is what you will experience with this movie. Catch this real-life tale at your nearest PVR cinemas.
