Goa is my hometown. I spent a good chunk of my vacations here when I was a child. Back then, life in Goa was slow and simple. It wasn’t as commercial as it is today. Even though some patches of land still have a ‘susagade’ vibe to it, the rest are bustling with energy. Come to think of it, the best part about Goa is that it has something for everyone. Seafood, good music, beer, gorgeous beaches and of course, flea markets.Flea market in Goa is different from any other street market in India. You will usually find aesthetic handicrafts, painted tiles, pretty lamps, flowy dresses, and get a chance to meet interesting people there! Plus, more than that, people go there for the vibe and the music. It’s a fun place to just let go and enjoy yourself. The Best Flea Market In Goa You Must Check Out
1. Anjuna Flea Market
Every Wednesday from 9 am to 6 pm, the Anjuna flea market is open for business. It’s one of the most famous markets in Goa and I highly recommend that you drop by. Around 3 decades ago, it was perceived to be a place of Hippie influence and culture. They used to sell handmade jewellery and fashion items to fund the rest of their stay in India. However, that’s not the same case today. Cultures from all over India and beyond come to Anjuna Market to sell their merchandise. The market isn’t open all around the year. It starts in November and ends in April.

2. Arpora Night Market
My trip to Goa would never be complete if I did not make a trip to the Saturday Arpora Night Market aka Ingo’s Night Market at Arpora. It starts at 6 pm in the evening and is on till late at night. Over here, there’s a mix of cultures and it’s known for its local and craftsy goods. Allow me to explain how the Saturday Market works. It’s divided into three zones – lower field, central field and upper field. The lower field is where you can buy local goods like handicrafts, spices, beachwear, jewellery, footwear and clothes, the central field is where you can spoil your tastebuds at various food stalls and enjoy great music and the upper field is where you can shop for designer and luxe products. This one too is open from November to April.

3. Friday Market At Mapusa
Every Goan and traveller knows what and where Mapusa is. It’s the trading and shopping market in Goa. Over here, you can get Goan pottery, textiles, handicrafts, spices, fresh fruits and vegetables. Not to mention here, you can pick up the famous Goan Sausages, cashew nuts, dodol, bebinca, dried fish, bombil pickle and meat cutlets. Also, you’re free to put your bargaining skills to the test here as it will fetch you plenty of good deals. This place is great to meet locals from Goa and get a chance to get acquainted with their culture and traditional foodstuffs. After you’re done shopping in Goa, I request you to head to a nearby street outside Alankar Movie theatre (If you can’t find it on Google maps, just ask one of the locals, they will definitely help). It’s a stretch of food stalls that serve Chinese, Goan dishes, milk drinks and tandoori kebabs. It comes to life in the evening and the stalls serve food in large portions at dirt cheap prices.

4. Calangute Bazaar
Like Calangute beach? Then you’ll also like the Calangute Bazaar as well. If you’re searching for Kashmiri and Tibetan items, you must visit this market. They sell textiles, carpets, bags, jewellery, copperware and bowls. This place is great for clicking pictures and getting great deals on meats and souvenirs. The best time to visit this place is from 6:30 am to 12 pm. If you’re feeling a little adventurous, visit the Kerkar Art Complex that’s a little ahead of Calangute Bazaar. If you like classical Indian music, you can get to hear that too on Thursdays and Fridays at the Bazaar.

5. The Baga Stretch
The Baga stretch is a hub for all things happenin’! This place has the coolest clubs and the trendiest fashion items all in one place. Here, you can buy artefacts, musical items, jackets, pretty sandals, cool ashtrays, fridge magnets, jewellery and bottle openers. In fact, during the summers, there are some stores that sell beachwear on the beach! Really cute bikinis and sarongs! (Thank me, later.)

6. Le Souk At Ashwem Beach
If you like all things posh and high-end, you must visit ‘Le Souk Goa’ at Askwem Beach. It works quite differently than the way flea markets work. It’s open throughout the season, you can buy clothing from both, local and international designers. Lots of Bohemian and leather goods to be bought from here.

7. The Goa Collective Bazaar at Hilltop
This one is a new flea market in Goa. It’s at Vagator and is right now the newest party place that you need to visit. It has over 100 stalls, a kids area, live music and overall good energy. However, there is an entry charge you must pay to get in. 100 Rs per person and the timings are usually between 3 pm – 2 am.
