On March 6, Gujarat declared a state-wide ban on the popular online game PUBG over concerns about its impact on the ‘behaviour, conduct and language’ on players. For those who haven’t been taking this ban seriously, Rajkot police have left a strong warning message by arresting 10 people, six of whom are university students, yesterday for playing the multiplayer online game.
One of the police officers, Rohit Raval, who arrested them, told The Indian Express, “This game is highly addictive and the accused were so engrossed in playing them that they could not even notice our team approaching them.”

Those arrested were granted bail later the same day; however, their mobile phones were seized by the police for investigation.
Police Commissioner Manoj Agrawal, who banned the game in the state, had earlier said, “In the procedure, they will be shown as immediately bailed out by police. The case will go to the courts and there will be a trial for not following the notification issued.”
The charges will be filed against the accused under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, which punishes on account of ‘disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant.’ The punishment can be ‘simple imprisonment for a term which may extend to one month or with fine which may extend to two hundred rupees, or with both.’
Gujarat is the only state to ban PUBG (PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds) so far.
