#FilmyKeeda: Team POPxo Reveals The One Bollywood Movie That’s Their Guilty Pleasure!

We all have our set of guilty pleasures – weird stuff that we indulge in because oddly, it makes us feel good! And if I was to name one such guilty pleasure, it definitely has to be watching cringe-worthy Bollywood movies that shouldn’t have been made in the first place!

A worn-out film script, random plot twists, extreme levels of overacting and annoying music are a few reasons why a film bombs at the box office. But just because it was a flop, doesn’t mean that we cannot enjoy it from the comfort of our homes. If you’re a true Bollywood junkie, you know there’s a plethora of such movies available for us to watch. I, for one, cannot stop watching (and judging) those. And just like me, my fellow colleagues too enjoy watching mindless stuff after a hard day at work or even on weekends!

Team POPxo Reveals The One Bollywood Movie That’s Their Guilty Pleasure

How many of these have you watched?!

Tees Maar Khan

“I am so not a Bollywood person but I happened to watch Tees Maar Khan one day and my life has never been the same. *Desh ke khazaane* ki chori, random movie shooting happening with oblivious villagers, a cringe-worthy wannabe actress whose life goals include “mein aur makeup karke aati hun” and “mein aur rollers lagake aate hun“, a hot-headed oscar wannabe, mindless co-joined twins who wear the worst clothes ever and of course, Sheila Ki JawaniTees Maar Khan seems like the result of a bet gone wrong! If you have not watched it yet, make sure to make some popcorn and watch this khichdi of a Bollywood movie soon.”

Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Ha…Among Many Others!

“Bollywood itself is my guilty pleasure. Every weekend I have to re-watch or watch at least one cringe-worthy film, only then do I feel I’ve had a productive weekend. And yes, my guilty pleasure movies include Karan Johar’s gifts to mankind- Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. But three films that are special to only me and my best friend (we actually don’t know anyone else who watches these regularly) are Mujhse Dosti Karogi, Na Tum Jaano Na Hum and Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai. Yes, we watch Uday Chopra on repeat, sue me!”

Mujhse Dosti Karogi

“We all have our guilty pleasures. There are some things that we indulge in that make us feel weirdly better, and one of them is watching crazy movies. Bollywood has a treasure of so many cringe-worthy films which we all know and love for some strange reasons. For me, some of them are Om Jai Jagdish, Bride and Prejudice, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Hum Saath Saath Hain, and Mujhse Dosti Karogi, to name a few. I have watched these films at least a hundred times!”

Salaam Namaste

“After a few rounds of drinks, I have to dance to 90’s Bollywood music. I love Bollywood, yaar! I love to unwind during the weekends and Bollywood movies are my escape. Although I have a big list of Bollywood movies that didn’t do very well, I am guilty about none 🙂 A few movies that I love to watch are Neil N Nikki, Salaam Namaste and Dostana. I can do this on repeat. Don’t judge, ya!”

Mohabbatein

“Tanu Weds Manu for Pappi ji’s amazing comic timing and dialogue delivery, Dil Toh Pagal Hai for that mad dance-off, Jhootha Hi Sahi simply ‘coz I watched it on a happy Christmas eve, What’s Your Rashee for being outrageously blah, Kites for the music, Ok Jaanu for happening to me at the right time in life…I could go on and on. But if I had to choose just one then it has to be Mohabbatein. Coz when it comes to sappy Bollywood songs, it really doesn’t get any better than ‘Zinda Rehti Hain Unki Mohabbatein’. Oh btw, hit me up for a free recital of ‘Koi Pyaar Kare Toh Tumse Kare’ any time, anywhere!”

Hum Saath Saath Hain

“I’ve watched this film at least 20 times. I remember every dialogue, every lyric and I still really love watching it whenever it comes on TV. I usually stop when the whole bade-bhaiya-leaving-the-house track begins. Another film that was a super flop but is an absolute delight to watch is Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. The dance-off, in the end, gives me life, and all the songs are amazing!”

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam

“Honestly, I’m not a Bollywood fan–because I don’t like to suspend my beliefs while watching a movie. And more than that, I am DEFINITELY not a Salman Khan fan. I find him to be problematic not only as an actor but also as a person. But somehow, I really like watching the cliched, over-exaggerated, flawed romance of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Maybe it was because I saw this movie as a kid on the big screen, or maybe Salman-Aishwarya make a good on-screen pair (yikes).”
