Thank Me Later! Five Smoothie Recipes That Will Have You Sending Fan Mails To Me

Chop, blend, and serve–aren’t smoothies pure magic? Forever a smoothie enthusiast, I think of them as guilt-free milkshakes, your blend-and-go jars of health and happiness. Also, I can’t stress enough on how smoothies have transformed my life. In fact, in the past couple of years, there has hardly been a day when I didn’t whip up one of my go-to smoothie recipes.

That said, I am of the belief that smoothies just like spirituality are very personal. Everyone likes them differently. Some like them nutty, some like them thick, and some like them all ice-creamy. Well, whatever your smoothie preference happens to be, I have a recipe for you all! Each of these is super healthy, contain no-added sugar, and serve their purpose by curbing your hunger.

Pretty cool, right? Scroll down for five of the greatest smoothie recipes that would have you converted even if you aren’t much into that ‘smoothie girl’ life.

The Gut Health Smoothie

All of us have heard about how green veggies are amazing for our digestion, strength, and overall health, right? Well, what few of us have heard about green veggies is that they work like magic when we have them on an empty stomach. My nutritionist introduced me to this green smoothie last year when I was struggling with a lot of gut health issues and take this from me–this is life-changing. And while the entire idea of having goopy spinach first thing in the morning was sort of unappetising for me, I powered through by tweaking the recipe and making it a little chocolaty. Works like a charm now!

  • Milk (200 ml)
  • Apple (1)
  • Spinach leaves (1/4 cup)
  • Flaxseed (1 tbsp, powdered)
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (1/2 tsp)
  • Vanilla extract (1-2 drops)

  • Roughly chop the apples and spinach leaves.
  • Mix all the ingredients together and grind them in the mixture.
  • Pour in a glass and dust with chocolate powder on the top.

The Savoury Smoothie

We generally associate a sweet taste with the entire idea of smoothies. However, and this is majorrr, smoothies can also be savoury. I first got the idea while leisurely sipping on a Virgin Mary a couple of years ago and there has been no going back since then. This smoothie is for the days when you don’t feel like having anything meetha.

  • Salad tomatoes (2 medium)
  • Tabasco sauce (2 tsp)
  • Fresh corriander (2 tsp)
  • Carrot (1 small)
  • Piquillo pepper/Any mild variety of chilies (1-2 as per the taste)
  • Salt (to taste)

  • Roughly chop the tomatoes, carrot, and peppers.
  • Except for the sauce, mix everything in the jar, and grind.
  • Pour in a glass and season with tobacco, give it a light shake, and enjoy!

The Post Workout Smoothie

A lot of people are starving by the time they finish their workouts. It is the case with me as well. And earlier I was in the habit of eating my meals right after working out which BTW is a terrible habit. After a workout, your metabolism is kicking and your body needs some protein-packed goodness instead of a high-on carbs meal. This smoothie is perfect for such days when you get back from the gym all starving.

  • Apple (1)
  • Banana/Mango (1)
  • Protein powder (1 scoop)
  • Almonds (5-7, soaked)
  • Walnuts (1-2)

  • Roughly chop the fruits.
  • Mix all the ingredients together and grind.
  • Top it with chopped fruits and enjoy.

The Antioxidant

Like your smoothies light and flavourful? This berry recipe would become your favourite in no time. Also, it is packed with antioxidants and that for sure is a win-win. I recommend that you have this drink slightly diluted on a summer afternoon to experience its full beauty. You’d be a fan!

  • Blueberries (1-2 cup)
  • Apple (1)
  • Dates (2-3)
  • Coconut water (100-150 ml)
  • Chia Seeds (1 tbsp, soaked)

  • Roughly chop the apples and de-seed the dates.
  • Apart from chia seeds, mix all the ingredients together and grind.
  • Garnish with chia seeds and crushed berries.

So fam, which one of these smoothies recipes are you trying this week?
