An A-list Designer’s Team Accuses Made In Heaven 2 Of Breach Of Faith

Made In Heaven 2 was nothing less than a juicy world of drama and controversy! The show’s tantalising mix of scandals, secrets, and shocks kept us fascinated. But hold on to your seats, for the show’s twists and turns have spilt over into real life as well. Following a Dalit author’s criticism of the show for drawing inspiration from her real-life story for Radhika Apte‘s episode, a prominent designer has accused the producers of exploiting his garments.

In the show, Karan Mehra is seen dating a designer, Akshay Jaiswal, played by Kashyap Harsha Shangari. Akshay was a fictitious character created by the makers, and he owned a designer store for bridal outfits. It has now been revealed that these clothes were designed by Tarun Tahiliani and that the producers did not obtain permission or give credit to the designer. While the creators gave Sabyasachi full credit in the first episode (and even starred him), this error on their part is shocking.

The designer accused the show of “violating the understanding behind the provision of clothing.” Mr Tahiliani alleged in a series of Instagram stories that an episode of Made in Heaven 2 used his designs without permission and that his creations were portrayed by a “fictitious designer” on the show. Tarun Tahiliani remarked on Instagram after releasing screenshots of the episode starring Mrunal Thakur, “It is most unfortunate when a popular OTT series violates the understanding behind the provision of clothing in the first place.”

Tarun Tahiliani added in his statement, “Case in point: Significant portions of the second episode of ‘Made in Heaven,’ were styled using clothes provided by the Tarun Tahiliani studio in good faith to the stylist.” Calling it a “shocking breach of faith,” The designer added, “Unfortunately, a fictitious designer (actor) representing a fictitious label presented our garments! This is a shocking breach of faith. If this is what the production house intended, they should have engaged a costume designer, had costumes designed, and proceeded as they saw fit.”

Finally, the designer signed off his statement by writing, “Let’s hope that this scenario does not repeat itself with other designers who have graciously lent their work for OTT productions. Furthermore, it is our hope that such actions will never be considered acceptable in the future – Tarun Tahiliani.”

TBH, we are all awaiting the makers’ response to these shocking claims made by Tarun Tahiliani. A designer’s work is his holy grail, and we understand why Mr Tahiliani is so upset. We hope the makers issue an apology soon.
