On a gloomy Saturday morning, parents Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja brightened our day with the announcement of the birth of their first child. On this joyous occasion, the Kapoor-Ajuha fam shared a unique art piece on social media with a heartwarming note. It read, “We are delighted to announce, on the 20th of August 2022, the arrival of the newest member of our family. Sonam and Anand have been blessed with a healthy baby boy and we couldn’t be more elated. Our hearts are bursting with pride and love for the new parents and their beautiful angle”.
The beautiful painting featured an eagle and deer holding hands. While it was absolutely stunning, fans eagerly waited for the parents of the newborn to disclose the meaning behind the it. Now, Sonam finally shared what the painting represented and NGL, we’re totally inspired.
Taking to the ‘Gram, Sonam said that the artwork showcased the amalgamation between the two elements–the sky and earth. “It refers to the universal concepts of a union between the Sky Father and the gentle, attentive and watchful Earth Mother, represented here by the Eagle and the Deer respectively,” she said.
Talking about the inspiration behind the painting created by Indian artist Rithika Merchant, Sonam added, “Eagles or hawks are associated with fatherhood and otherworldly creation (the overarching concept of the Dyeus Pita/Sky Father). Deer are associated with motherhood. They are gentle, attentive and watchful creatures. They are always on guard and can move, adapt, and survive even in the most challenging conditions.” Pretty cool, isn’t it?
Sonam concluded the post by stating, “Ever since the early Neolithic, when the earth was much colder and reindeer more widespread, the female reindeer was venerated by northern people. She was the “life-giving mother”, the leader of the herds upon which they depended for survival, and they followed the reindeer migrations for milk, food, clothing and shelter. She was a revered spiritual figure associated with fertility, motherhood, regeneration and the rebirth of the sun”.
Sonam never shied from expressing her love for art. And hence, we can’t think of a better way for her welcome her newborn.
