The one eye trend that we just can’t seem to get enough of is versatile smokey eyes. From traditional to ultra-glam, smokey eyes fit in like a dream and you don’t have to stress about it looking too bold or underrated. Sonakshi Sinha makes a case for smokey eyes and how it pairs beautifully with toasty eyeshadow hues to complement a contemporary indo-western ensemble. Take cue from this gorgeous star on rocking smokey eyes like a total queen.

Sonakshi Sinha’s Bold, Smokey Eyes Decoded

Follow this step-by-step decode to rock smokey eyes like this Bollywood star.

Step 1: Start With A Clean Canvas

Before beginning your makeup routine, make sure to use the right skincare to cleanse and prep your skin so that it stays healthy and protected. Cleanse, tone, moisturise and apply a lightweight broad-spectrum sunscreen.

Step 2: Set The Base

After your skincare is absorbed by your skin, apply a primer. Follow up by blending in a hydrating foundation on your face and neck. Dab concealer on areas that need extra coverage or colour correction. Spritz a dewy setting spray to fix your base makeup in place.

Step 3: Define The Brows

To ace a strong eye makeup look, it is equally important to get your brows defined. Start by drawing hair-like strokes with a brow pencil and then blend it in with a spoolie brush. Finish with a swipe of brow gel.

Step 4: Create The Smokey Effect

Apply an eye primer on your lids to make sure your eye makeup stays on longer. Blend a toasty matte sienna eyeshadow on your lids. Contour the eyes by applying a brown eyeshadow in the crease. Use the same brown eyeshadow on the lower lash lines as well. Smear black kajal on the upper lash lines and use a pencil brush to smudge and blur the pigment for a smokey effect. Clean up the outer corners with an angled brush and some concealer. Swipe on mascara.

Step 5: Add Warmth & Light

Contour your features with a powder bronzer and highlight areas like the cheekbones, brow bones, bridge of your nose and Cupid’s bow with a cream highlighter. Add a warm blush to your cheeks.

Step 6: Swipe Colour On Your Pout

Begin by moisturising your lips with a balm. Outline your lips with a nude lip pencil and fill in colour with a matte lipstick. Choose a nude hue that best complements your skin tone.
