Over 25? Make These 5 Changes To Your Skincare Routine

If you’re 25 and above, you need to read this! Yes, you’re still in the prime of your youth, but your skin won’t remain as supple and glowy at 50! It may not be super obvious now, but once you hit that age, your skin slowly starts to age. And it helps to take measures when you’re younger.

Even if you follow a fairly good skin routine RN, the following steps are what you should focus on as they are gonna make all the difference.

Make Retinol Your BFF

Ignore naysayers and add retinol to your skin routine. You will be doing your skin a huge favour. Retinol is one of the most powerful active ingredients because it shows visible signs of improvement when it comes to wrinkles, fine lines, uneven skin tone, pimples, large pores, and other concerns.

If you’re worried about retinol causing your skin to purge and get inflamed and irritated, try a super gentle and beginner-friendly retinol product like the Innisfree Retinol Cica Repair Ampoule because it has no such side effects.

Take Cleansing Seriously

If your face wash is too drying or too abrasive, get rid of it right away. Add a gentle face wash that probably has AHAs or BHAs in it to cleanse and lightly exfoliate your skin at the same time. This will help prevent the accumulation of dead skin cells and keep your glow intact. Also, make sure to wash your face twice a day daily.

One of my favourite face washes that checks all the right boxes is the IS Clinical Cleansing Complex because it both exfoliates and hydrates the skin.

Apply SPF Daily

It can be a full-on sunscreen or an SPF-infused moisturiser, whatever your choice between the two is, just make sure to apply it. Not wearing sunscreen will set you behind by years. Even if you use all of the serums and creams in the world and treat your skin concerns effectively, not wearing SPF will just undo all the efforts you put in as sun damage is no joke.

If you’re someone who hates wearing sunscreen, opt for the Dermalogica Powerbright Face Moisturiser SPF 50 as it is both a moisturiser and sunscreen at the same time and it feels soothing when applied.

Hydrate With Ceramides

It’s time to add this hero ingredient to your routine. Ceramides are the building blocks of your skin and they are naturally found in your body. But as you age, your body will produce fewer ceramides and that makes your skin dry and prone to ageing. A ceramide cream is a must-have for all skin types after age 25. Bonus: It makes your skin look plump AF.

My favourite lightweight ceramide cream for acne-prone skin is the Foxtale Ceramide Supercream Smoothening Moisturizer.

Use Under Eye Treatments

Some say that eye creams are unnecessary and your regular face cream should be enough. But if your skin is oily or combination and your face cream is very lightweight, the same cream will not be enough to treat your under-eye skin. The skin in this area is very delicate and it is more prone to ageing, therefore using under-eye treatment creams or masks and the likes is absolutely essential. Such products have more concentrated ingredients along with super-rich hydrating formulas that will help keep your eyes bright and youthful.

My favourite under-eye treatment is the Manish Malhotra Haldi Eye Gel because it literally makes my skin firm from the very first application.
