A Simple Skin Pampering Sesh To Bookmark For Sundays

A 6-Step Skin Pampering Routine For Skincare Sundays

Step 1: Clean Up

The first step to any type of skincare routine is cleansing because you have to begin with clean skin if you want your products to be effective. Choose a cleanser according to your skin type or one that will cater to your concerns. Ideally, a cleanser that is hydrating and loaded with natural ingredients will work for all skin types and help treat a myriad of skin concerns as well. Hydrating cleansers with natural ingredients also leave your skin feeling squeaky clean and smooth without any irritation.

Step 2: Tingle Town

If you haven’t tried a chemical peel already, now is the time. Chemical peels can be used instead of scrubs with exfoliating particles as they are much more effective on the skin and aren’t harsh either. They easily remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, banish blackheads and whiteheads and prevent acne from reoccurring. Use a chemical peel as an exfoliating step after cleansing your skin. Apply an even layer of the chemical peel and let it sit for 10 minutes after which you must rinse it out thoroughly with water.

Step 3: The Perfect Tone 

Now that you have double cleansed your skin, it needs to be hydrated and moisturised. So, avoid harsh toners and opt for nature infused toner that are soothing and hydrating. This rule goes for everyone, irrespective of your skin type. If you have sensitive skin, a spritz of rose water face mist should get the toning step done effectively.

Step 4: Bulls Eye

Your skin is finally prepared for action. Turn to active ingredients to treat any stubborn skin concerns such as pimples, dark spots, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, dark circles, and acne scars. Actives work best in serum form and our favourite active ingredients are Vitamin C for overall skin health and dark spots, hyaluronic acid for a plumping effect, salicylic acid to exfoliate acne prone skin and blackheads, lactic acid for dehydrated and sensitive skin, niacinamide for anti ageing benefits, and retinol as a night time skin active for dark circles, scars, spots, pigmentation, and fine lines. Keep your skin damp with a toner and then apply the serum of choice on your face and neck.

Step 5: Hydrating Sesh

You may have your trusted daily moisturiser, but for Sundays, indulge in a sheet mask to get that moisturising effect. A good practice is to chill the sheet mask in the fridge before applying it on your skin. You can choose a mask with natural ingredients and one that will work on your most concerning skin concerns. Let the sheet mask sit for at least 20 minutes before discarding it. Massage the remaining residue on your face and neck.

Step 6: Sculpting Detox

Did you know that facial massages help detoxify and depuff your skin? It’s true. But, you need to perform a massage only after moisturising your skin. Since you already hydrated your skin with a sheet mask and it is still fresh with the hydrating formula, glide a gua sha tool or jade roller on your face beginning from the centre of the face and move outwards. Try to push out the toxins from your face and bring it down to your neck so that it gets drained out. You can also use upward motions to sculpt your jawline and cheekbones, and get rid of a double chin. If you find the sheet mask wasn’t hydrating enough, apply a moisturiser or face oil before beginning a facial massage.
