Sima Aunty’s Comment On Nick Jonas-Priyanka Chopra’s Marriage Leaves Netizens Furious & Their Outrage Is Justified

Sima Aunty’s Comment On Nick Jonas-Priyanka Chopra’s Marriage Leaves Netizens Furious & Their Outrage Is Justified

Sima Taparia from Mumbai is no stranger to controversial opinions, so when season 2 of Indian Matchmaking dropped, we knew there will be some problematic comments for sure. This time, the infamous matchmaker dissed Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra’s marriage in the worst way possible and netizens have a lot to say about this.

Allow us to give you a little context—in the second episode of the show Sima aunty asked Nadia how her relationship with Shekhar was going as the two really hit it off in the first season. However, Nadia revealed that Shekhar had not made any attempt to make her feel ‘wanted’ and she was friend-zoned by him.

However, the truth was that the New Jersey-based event planner developed feelings for another man named Vishal, who was 7 years younger than her. After hearing Nadia’s confession, Taparia talked about Priyanka and Nick’s marriage as the two have an 11-year age gap. “But I don’t feel it’s a good match, sorry to tell them,” Sima said. She added, “Just they have married, but it’s not a good match. He looks so small and petite in front of her, and she looks elder.”

As expected this comment invited netizens’ fury! A Twitter user shared her take on Sima’s comment and wrote, “Sima Taparia saying what every desi mom said about Priyanka and Nick, “they are not a good match” yeah coz they are both successful and actually in love – this is why matchmaking is a scam #IndianMatchmaking”

“It is a diplomatic statement to be made. When a men marry younger women we just think its fair. But a women marrying younger man is problematic &unmatch? Why “indian-matchmaking-sima-taparia-doesnt-think-priyanka-chopra-and-nick-jonas-are-a-good-match-8083676/” @priyankachopra,” wrote another one.

TBH, Sima aunty’s statement on Nick and PC’s relationship straight-up reeks of misogyny! Even today, people expect women to appear docile or petite in front of their partners and that’s so problematic. A woman’s size or appearance has nothing to do with her relationship with her partner and we hope Sima aunty gets the memo too.

A relationship is built on love and respect between two individuals, not on superficial factors. So, Sima aunty can we just let people live their best life without your judgement?
