Now hold on to your seats as Shark Tank India recently unveiled its new judge for the upcoming season, who is none other than the founder and CEO of OYO, Ritesh Agarwal.
Ritesh will be joining fellow sharks Aman Gupta (boAt CEO and co-founder), Peyush Bansal (Lenskart Co-founder and CEO Lenskart), Vineeta Singh (Sugar Cosmetics’ CEO), Anupam Mittal (founder of Shaadi.com), and Amit Jain (CarDekho CEO and co-founder). About Ritesh
Born in Bissam, Cuttak, Ritesh moved to Delhi for college in 2011 after completing his studies at St. John’s Senior Secondary School, Kota. However, he dropped college in the hope of doing something bigger, and well, he did. According to Seed To Sacle, Ritesh started a company providing budget-friendly accommodation, Oravel Stays, in 2012 and even got accepted into the accelerator program by Venture Nursery. In 2013, he became the first Indian to be selected for the Thiel Fellowship and received grant money of $100,000 (83,03,500 approximately) as a winner. With this money, he went on to establish OYO Rooms in 2013 and managed to raise $1 billion by September 2018. Throughout his journey, Ritesh has won many awards and accolades including ‘Forbes 30 Under 30’ and Young Entrepreneur Award by Business World among others. And in 2020, his net worth was estimated to be approximately $1.1 billion.
