The Cannes Film Festival 2023 is extra special for India since a lot of desi celebrities are all set to make their debut. Sara Ali Khan made hers on Day 1 as she walked the renowned red carpet in an Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla lehenga that came with a dramatic veil. While the actress did her best to represent India on the French Riviera, netizens found a reason to troll her.
The actress gave an interview on the red carpet, and the internet is not pleased with her answer. When asked to describe her outfit, she said, “My outfit is by Abu and Sandeep. It is traditional Indian handmade work. I have always been proud of my Indianness, and therefore it embodies who I am.” Her answer did not sit well with the netizens, who bombarded the comment section with negative remarks.

Some had an issue with Sara using the word “Indianness” and wrote, “Indianness. Nice word to begin Cannes this year.” A few mocked her for using the term “I think” way too much in her sentences and commented, “She really does think a lot.” A few even went to the extent of comparing her to a veteran like Aishwarya Rai and said, “You listen to her and you realise how well-spoken and well-informed Aishwarya is.”
TBH, the comments are extremely brutal, and people need to realise that this is her first time at the festival. She might actually be nervous, which is natural, right? In fact, Sara started the interview by expressing her nervousness. It is easy to sit in your bed and bring down someone, but it takes a hell lot of guts to represent your country in a foreign land. The internet really needs to cut her some slack!
We think Sara Ali Khan did a fabulous job for her debut, and we hope she doesn’t let a few faceless trolls bring her down!
