Sara Ali Khan is celebrating the success of Atrangi Re and making our Instagram feed a bright and happy place. She’s been dancing to the song Chaka Chak at every possible location and sharing quirky reels with us. We have to say, we’re loving her in these videos just the way we loved her in the movie. The actress has delivered a stellar performance in the film and we think it’s her best role to date! In the movie, she plays the character of Rinku, a girl who suffers from visual hallucinations. The death of her parents in the film traumatised her deeply and to survive in her dysfunctional family, she created Sajjad, her imaginary lover.
In a recent interview, Sara revealed that while Rinku’s character is similar to her in some ways, there are certain aspects that make them poles apart. That’s one of the reasons why she was able to portray the role so convincingly on the big screen.
While talking to a leading daily, the Simbaa actress said that she and Rinku have different lives. While the latter comes from a broken and toxic family, she comes from two different homes. Sara’s parents, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh separated when she was nine years old and she was raised by her mom after the divorce.
While talking about her supportive parents, she said, “I honestly think that Rinku and I have very different lives. I have a very supportive family, whether I come from a broken home or not. I think, more than a broken home, I come from two homes. I don’t really carry the burden of loneliness. I have a lot of support from my mother and my father toh kabhi bagawat ka mauka ya kaaran nahi mila mujhe (so I never got a reason to rebel).”
Rinku’s troubled childhood made her revolt against her family and tackle every situation boldly. Sara found her character’s bold avatar familiar and connected to it personally. She revealed that growing up with a single mother taught her to have a tough exterior that protected her emotionally.
While talking about the similarity, she added, “I think the fact that we (she and Rinku) are both ultimately vulnerable people that hide our vulnerability in the guise of confidence. It is something that I find similar in us. I don’t think that is necessarily the lack of family support.” Well, that explains why we thought that the actress was perfect for the role.
We love Sara’s bold and quirky personality and also the sweet version of her that she reveals when she’s around her loved ones. We are waiting to see more amazing performances from her in 2022 now!
