Rihanna Just Revealed Fenty Skin’s First Products & We’re Jumping With Joy

After almost a year of keeping us waiting and dropping sneak peeks, Rihanna has finally announced her latest project and no, it isn’t another music album (though we wouldn’t mind that either.) After her mega-success with Fenty Beauty, Bad Gal Riri brings to you Fenty Skin- a skincare range for everyone. It’s gender-neutral, works for varied skin types and skin colours and is what we need when we talk about inclusive beauty in 2020.

The first three products have been revealed on Instagram and those will be the hero products that work as a part of the daily skincare routine for every skin type. The Total Cleans’r Remove-It-All Cleanser, Fat Water Pore-Refining serum, and Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 all drop on July 31 and we are beyond stoked.

Fenty Skin’s approach to skincare is practical and innovative because it combines the traditional skincare categories together to create the three core products that can be used in various ways. Quick, easy and made with tried and tested ingredients, this skincare range will be every minimalist beauty lovers holy grails.

Erin O’Neill, SVP of Fenty Skin said, “She (Rihanna) talked about this idea of, in order to have great makeup, you have to have great skin. She said always felt really intimidated and overwhelmed by skincare.”

The singer-songwriter and beauty Moghul said, “Fenty Skin is everything I wish I had back then. I wanted it to feel approachable, easy, and to take the pressure off choosing a routine, so I created one for everyone.”

She wanted to make products that were straightforward and effective and would help customers keep their beauty routine basic and easy to follow. As for the formula, Riri took inspiration from ingredients around the world like barbados cherry which can be found in all three products. This is a Vitamin-C packed Barbadion ingredient that people love.

While talking about her inspiration for Fenty Skin, the singer said, “Whether you want to wear makeup, light makeup, heavy makeup, whatever you prefer or are in the mood for, there is always a great foundation underneath that and THAT is the inspiration for Fenty Skin. I wanted to make [products] that are better than anything I have ever used and everything I have ever encountered and everything that is on the market that has confused me.”

Guess ‘less is more’ is Riri’s mantra!

Talking about the products, the first one is the hydrating cleanser which can also be used as a makeup remover. It starts off as a creamy pink confection that lathers up once you get it going and is packed with antioxidants and green tea extracts that soothe the skin and revitalise it. Also, the packaging is made from 40% post-consumer recycled materials, so got another tick mark there.

The second product is the pore refining toner serum which can be used for prepping your skin as well as a moisturiser. It makes your pores appear smaller, helps fade dark spots and gives you a more radiant complexion. It has niacinamide which stimulates collagen production in the skin and neutralises excessive oil.

The last one is the Hydra Vizor Invisible moisturizer which contains SPF 30. So basically if you’re lazy to apply sunscreen and moisturiser separately, this product does it for you. It doesn’t leave a white cast and comes in refillable packaging so that when you run out, you can just fill it up without buying the entire product again. Wow, Rihanna really thought of everything!

The brand has always stood for inclusivity and set a benchmark in the beauty world when it released 40 shades of foundation in 2017. As expected, even the Fenty Skin campaign is gender-inclusive and features the singer with models of varying ethnicities rocking ridiculously glowing skin.

Shop Fenty Skin products from the 31st of July onwards here.
