PSA: Sunscreen Isn’t Seasonal! Don’t Believe Us? Listen To Rihanna

Ladies, the one skincare product you should never break up with is sunscreen. Not only does it protect your skin from the harsh UV rays, but also prevents premature aging and lowers the risk of getting skin cancer. A popular sunscreen myth that people seem to believe is that one does not need to use sunscreen during the winter and monsoon months. However, that’s far from the truth.

You see, UVA and UVB rays can penetrate through the clouds and cause long-term damage to your skin- regardless of the season. And guess what, Rihanna agrees with us on this one!

Recently, the singer-songwriter posted a stunning picture of herself in lacey lingerie on the ‘Gram. She captioned it, “Just protecting my melanin while they try to eradicate it! @fentyskin #FentySkinStartRs mini gang!”

Posing with her new travel-size Fenty Skin Start’r Kit, Rihanna was also seen wearing the Fenty Skin Hydra Vizor Moisturiser SPF 30 to stay safe from the harmful rays of the sun. While most of her fans were lauding RiRi in the comments section, one fan’s comment got her riled up.

This isn’t the first time that Rihanna has been vocal about her thoughts regarding sunscreen. In her recent interview with a popular website, the Umbrella singer said, “Growing up on an island, you’re exposed to the sun every day. So you always thought that SPF was a tourist thing, and especially not for black people,”

She later added, “I have learned the hard way because over time the sun wasn’t that kind to my skin and my skin was not that resilient. So I started to have hyperpigmentation in certain areas.”

Today, Rihanna does not go a day without wearing sunscreen. She launched the Hydra Vizor SPF 30 (a pink-tinted cream) that’s designed to suit all skin tones without being chalky. The product claims to be as light as air and deeply moisturing, leaving the skin making it supple, bright, and baby soft. Made with Kalahari melon, baobab, niacinamide, aloe, and hyaluronic acid, this sunscreen is not only safe for the skin but the coral reefs as well. Doesn’t it sound fantastic?

Coming back to Rihanna’s IG comment, yes, SPF isn’t seasonal. Even if it’s sunny, cloudy, snowy, or rainy outside, you should wear SPF at all times.
