So along with the movie, even the song Unchi Hai Building got revamped into Lift Teri Bandh Hai. With a Punjabi touch, dhol beats and ultimate dance moves, this makes for the perfect wedding song. Hawa Hawai

Sridevi dropped some major lightening with her incredible song Hawa Hawai from the movie Mr India. The song was so popular that multiple remixes have been made of it. One was from the Kalki Koechlin’s movie Shaitaan released in 2011 and one from the Vidya Balan starrer, Tumhari Sulu called Hawa Hawai 2.0. Both the songs have the same essence of the original with a modern twist to get you swaying to the melodious tracks. Also, both of them are the kind of remixes of old Hindi songs that renew the old version but still have a characteristic appeal of their own.

Leja Leja Re

There was a certain novelty to the original version of the song Leja Leja Re sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Ustad Sultan Khan for the album Ustad & the Divas. It certainly had a lot to do with the storyline based on models Nina Sarkar and Varun Toorkey. Singer Dhvani Bhanushali remixed the song in 2018 and the craze that followed made Dhvani an overnight success and a mainstream singer in the Indian entertainment industry. While the song, whenever played, is sure to remind you of the iconic hook step from the original, it also reminds you of fresh-faced Dhvani and her beautiful voice. This is one of those remixes of old Hindi songs that became as iconic as the original one.

Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi

All the 90s kids must remember a phase at the turn of the millennium when Falguni Pathak was literally the only singer that played on loop at every event, sangeet, and of course, dandiya night. One of the compositions released during the nascency albeit great creative heights of her career happened to be Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi. And while the song was released in 1998, it continued to rule the charts for easily half a decade. And while the original’s popularity had a lot to do with Riya Sen, it’s remix also has a lot to with its video and the female lead for its popularity. Featuring Divya Khosla Kumar and sung by Neha Kakkar, the song came out in 2019 and happens to be one of those remixes of old hindi songs that can easily take over the original one’s popularity and cult status.

Mene Tere Liye Hi Saat Rang Ke

Penned by Gulzar Sahab and crooned by the legendary singer Mukesh, the song featured in the 1971 Rajesh Khanna starrer Anand with both the movie and the song turning out to be a huge success. Revived by singer Suryaveer in his soulful voice, the remix version of this came out in 2018. Now while the song must not have gathered the kind of popularity that it actually deserved, trust me when I say that this literally happens to be one of best remixes of old songs ever made.

Gulabi Aankhein

If I were to be honest, I can hardly remember the original Gulabi Aankhein since I heard Atif Aslam’s remix of the same and that’s something to say given that the original was sung by none other than Mohammed Rafi. The song was released back in 1970 and featured in the hit film, The Train. Needless to say, it inspired many a generation of lovers to come. This explains why it happens to be one of those old Hindi songs remixed several times since its release. However, it is the remix version crooned by Atif Aslam that certainly tops the charts.
