Totally risking the fury of many fashion enthusiasts here but I gotta say this–I don’t understand jeans. Actually, I kinda hate them. In fact, I haven’t worn a pair in almost half a decade now. Seriously, I kid you not. Irrespective of the silhouette or fit, I find the entire idea of denim just too uncomfortable and confining. This explains why while I might have outwardly cried foul during the entire athleisure phase of 2020, I was actually quite okay (read, super comfortable) with it all. Snug tights and relaxed Pjs–what’s not to like?
Thankfully, the fashion community is finally listening to me and seriously considering relaxed trousers as a fashion staple this season. The 70s inspired, flared and relaxed trousers trend is here to stay with its modern iterations taking over the scene. Consequently, the trending pants right now are big, bold, bright, and sometimes white.
Well, just in case you are skeptical about my claims (given my bias against the jeans), you might want to know that our B-town fashionistas have fully embraced the trend.

Gotta start with Kiara Advani for she is fiercely championing the trend currently. From straight ruched picks to full-blown satin palazzo fits, the actress is living in her comfortable best right now. The tip that we are picking for wearing the relaxed-fit trousers from Kiara would be to go bold and beautiful. From jewel hues to satin fabrics, the world is your oyster here. However, remember to go easy and solid with your waist up separates when you opt for a pop of vibrant colours waist down.
Shilpa Shetty
In case you might not be too much into overly relaxed trousers, Shilpa Shetty here gives us some tailored fit inspiration. We love how her off-white trousers are fresh, sharp, and yet so relaxed. Also, this silhouette has to be your go-to pick whenever you make it back to work this year.
Shanaya Kapoor
If you haven’t caught the drift yet–the metallic trend from the 80s is making a swift comeback this year. We are guessing it is the outcome of the pandemic, “a roaring Twenties” kind of a situation here. Now, your take on this look would have to do a lot with how much discomfort you are willing to endure in the name of fashion.
