Dear gentle reader, this author is thrilled to be the bearer of an incredibly exciting update that has the entire ton buzzing. Our very own Duke of Hastings, Regé-Jean Page, is returning to Bridgerton. A little birdie tells us that Regé is making his way back to Shondaland and the official announcement will follow soon.
Regé made our hearts skip a beat when he showed up in London as the smouldering, Heathcliff-esque romantic hero in season one of Bridgerton. The handsome Simon Bassett eventually fell in love with the Bridgerton family’s spirited eldest daughter Daphne, played by Phoebe Dynevor. Their steamy love affair made us all wish that we were a part of the Regency era and find someone to ‘burn’ for.
However, when Regé did not return for the second season of Bridgerton, we were left heartbroken. After millions of tweets and requests, it appears that the has decided to bless our screens once again with his oh-so-gorg smile and razor-sharp wit. A source close to the production revealed to media daily and said, “Regé-Jean was always very open about his intention to quit the show after the first season and to move on to other projects. But recently there has been a dialogue between him and the show’s bosses.”
Earlier this year, during a media interaction Regé was questioned about the prospect of a future cameo in the show. The actor said, “You know I couldn’t tell you! Isn’t there something wonderful about being surprised by what you weren’t suspecting?”
Can Regé make the announcement already? We are waiting with our beating hearts!
The announcement of the Regé’s departure from the drama was made in 2020 as the Bridgerton Twitter handle shared a letter from Lady Whistledown. The letter said read, “We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family.”
Since then we have been hoping to catch a glimpse of Regé somewhere in the streets of Regency-era London. Finally, our prayers have been answered and there is nothing else we can wish for now.
