Everyone will experience acne at some point in their lives. Whether it’s on the face or the back, acne is painful and, sometimes, it can leave scars. The breasts are another place unwanted yet not uncommon place where you might experience acne. Before we discuss the reasons, we want you to know that if you have acne on your boobs, it can be treated.
The most common routine is to exfoliate once a week, stay hydrated, opt for oil-free sunscreens, use an acne-fighting body wash, and shower regularly. Now that you know how to protect your boobs from acne, let’s understand how you got it in the first place!
Top 5 Reasons For Chest Acne
Once you know the reasons for chest acne, finding the solutions to them becomes easier.
You Workout ALOT
Working out regularly is essential for your mind and well-being. However, staying in your sports gear all day after isn’t. A sweaty sports bra is a breeding ground for bacteria and germs. Dirt, germs, sweat and bacteria can clog the pores on your skin and cause chest acne. The wise thing to do would be to take off your gym gear and head for a shower after your sweat sesh. Pay special attention to washing the chest area as this place is the most prone to acne.
Perfumes Are A Culprit!

Many a times, we spray perfume on our wrists, inside our elbows, on the neck and on the décolleté. While all that is fine, some perfumes can be irritating for the skin and clog the pores–eventually leading to breakouts on the breasts. If you’ve experienced acne on the boobs because of perfumes, avoid spraying it on that area again. If you experience itchiness after spraying, wash your twins with lukewarm water and a mild cleanser.
Not All Moisturisers Are Good For You
It’s important to moisturise your skin after stepping out from a shower. However, what’s even more important is choosing a great moisturiser. If it’s for your chest, stay away from heavy, oil-based moisturisers or body lotions. Oil-based moisturisers will not only clog the pores on your breasts but also cause breakouts. Look for a noncomedogenic or oil-free moisturiser instead.
You Aren’t Drinking Enough Water

Dehydration is one of the biggest causes of acne on the boobs. When your body is dehydrated, the skin is more likely to feel dry and flaky. When the skin sheds, some of those skin flakes can clog the pores and mix with the oil and debris in it. Thus, causing chest acne. Moral of the story–drink MORE water!
Blame It On The Hormones
Sometimes, you may be doing all the right things, but still, experience chest acne. Fluctuating hormones could be a big reason behind chest acne. Along with breakouts, you may also experience swelling as well. It’s best to have a word with your doctor when such a situation arises.
While it’s important to look after the skin on your face, don’t forget to pamper the rest of your body as well (especially your breasts!)
