Rashami Desai On Financial Struggles While Growing Up, Reveals She Changed Names Thrice

TV bahu Rashami Desai was the most popular contestant on Bigg Boss 13. But she came across as boring contestant and the only time she made the show all about her was because of her love life controversy with Arhaan Khan. After Arhaan Khan was evicted, Rashami switched back to her boring self and #SidNaaz, the fave couple in the show, once again grabbed the spotlight.

Rashami had her weak moments (read ugly spats with co-contestant Sidharth Shukla) in the house but she came out of the house as a stronger person. “I was the contestant who faced the most difficult time inside the house. My personal life was entirely out there. It was not easy for me to handle such a situation but in the end, I did, and that too with confidence. The show taught me a lot. The show changed my perspective towards things. I am a stronger person now. I have started taking things in a positive manner. My patience level has increased. It was a different world. No doubt, I faced many hard days there but made beautiful memories too,” Rashami earlier said in an interview with a media portal.

In a recent interview with an entertainment portal, Rashami opened up about the struggles she faced IRL while growing up.

The Dil Se Dil Tak actress said she was raised by a single mom and her mom couldn’t afford the fee of Rs 350 for her dance classes. Rashami’s mom, Rasila Desai, also opened up about changing Rashami’s name from Shivani to Divya to Rashami, because she was apprehensive about her family’s reaction as Rashami was the first woman in the family to take up acting as a profession, “I was a single parent, I did not have a husband to support me. Also, in our caste, she was the first woman to enter this field. Our entire family was very educated and did not think of acting as a career. But, I supported her. I was scared of my family and society, so I changed her name. But my sister was there to support me throughout,” said Rasila.
