Rakul Preet Singh is a popular name in the Indian film fraternity. The actress rose to fame with her role in Aiyaary and since then there has been no looking back for her. She’s proved herself time and again after delivering impressive performances. During a recent interview, the actress shared that she enjoys a challenging role and that’s what attracts her to a movie. And, our guess is that’s probably what led her to her next, Chhatriwali, a social entertainer.
In the film, Rakul plays the role of a condom tester. While talking to a leading daily recently, she opened up about her role and shared that she’s thrilled about being a part of the interesting and hatke storyline. “It’s important to highlight some issues in a light-hearted way and that has got me pretty excited,” she added.
Rakul further explained that it’s a family entertainer and should be treated like one. She said, “We are not showing anything sleazy. There is not one kiss in the film. It’s a journey of a small-town girl and it’s in humour. She stumbles upon this job, she also looks down upon it (initially).”
About the film, the storyline revolves around a chemistry graduate (played by Rakul), who ends up accepting the job of a quality tester for condoms as she needs money. Rakul also revealed that she was a bit sceptical about playing the role initially, and her parents convinced her to take it up. She mentioned that she runs every script by her parents before accepting it, and the same was the case with Chhatriwali.
TBH, that’s not the only interesting film Rakul will be seen in this year. She also has Doctor G in the pipeline with Ayushmann Khurrana. In the movie, the actress will be playing the role of a gynaecologist. In the same interview, she explained, “Each one of us is born the way that we are going to show in Doctor G. A gynaecologist is a very important doctor, but we look down upon gynaecology as a department. If someone has to go to gynaec, we say so go with your mother, not father, why? Father bhi to wahi se paida hue the.” She further said that they aim to create awareness about the same.
Well, it looks like Rakul has a busy year ahead, and we can’t wait for both her movies to be out ASAP as they sound way too interesting. Here’s hoping we get the release dates soon.
