Dressing up Zendaya and Gigi Hadid in sarees. Creating garments that look like they were pulled out of a fairytale. Always giving centre stage to his artisans. It’s evident. Rahul Mishra likes to make a statement.
Well, the couturier just pulled off another one of his flamboyant tricks on the opening day of Couture Week at Paris Fashion Week! Titled “We The People”, Rahul’s Fall 2023 collection was a sight to behold. There was oodles of glitter, drama, and glamm. Most importantly, there was substance! For the show, Rahul flew two of his artisans to Paris and got them to walk the ramp.
Our favourite detail about Rahul Mishra’s Paris Fashion Week showcase? The gorgeous Indian wear that took over the stage. Yup! Rahul presented contemporary iterations of sarees and lehengas on the ramp. The audience was left smitten and we were left proud. Scroll down to take a look at how Indian wear won the show at Paris Fashion Week:
Rahul Mishra’s Bridal Lehenga With A Twist
A confluence of Indian and Western bridal aesthetic, Rahul’s white wedding lehenga was a work of art. Embellished with dainty floral motifs, the scalloped hem skirt has an international feel. So does the tube blouse. Rahul has smartly finished off the look with a dupatta-style veil. Here’s a look that is the best of both worlds and will have equal appeal for the desi and well as the white bride.
The Saree That Broke The Internet
Remember Zendaya’s trailing saree from the NMACC opening ceremony? Rahul just recreated the same for the Paris Fashion Week and it was a hit! We love the bedazzling blouse featuring oversized sequins fashioned to look like feathers. Only Rahul can think of creating something so out of the box!
Some More Of Rahul Mishra’s Magic
Of course, Rahul didn’t just showcase Indian wear at Parish Fashion Week. The collection featured some equally stunning Western looks and here are our favourites from the lot:
Stunning, right? Rahul is not a designer. He is a magician!
