Radhika Madan became a household name after she played Ishaani on the TV show Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi opposite actor Shakti Arora in 2014. The show ran for two years and her chemistry with Shakti was one of its biggest selling points. Last year, she joined the growing list of television actors making their way to Bollywood by making her debut with Vishal Bhardwaj’s comedy-drama Pataakha, alongside Dangal fame Sanya Malhotra. She also starred in the action-comedy Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota opposite actress Bhagyashree’s son Abhimanyu Dassani.
Now, Radhika is all set for her third film, the much-awaited Angrezi Medium, starring Irrfan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in lead roles.
Recently, in an interview with a media portal, Radhika revealed how she had to struggle in some ways because she is an outsider in the industry. She shared an instance where she didn’t receive a callback for a film because a star kid had already gotten the role she auditioned for. What hurt her the most was that she was told she’s good, but they still went ahead with someone else. Sharing another incident, Radhika said, “The producer told me I’m giving it to so-and-so’s daughter, but I wanted the project. I said you take my audition. Just take my audition, I’m not asking for anything else. He agreed, I gave the audition, and I got the role.”
On being asked if she was talking about Angrezi Medium, the actress said, “I don’t know.”
When the film was announced, there were rumours about Sara Ali Khan playing Irrfan’s daughter in the film. However, there was no confirmation by the makers or the actress about this.
Was Radhika hinting at replacing Sara in the film? Our guess is as good as yours!
The film is set in Udaipur, Rajasthan. Sources say that Kareena and Irrfan will play parents to Radhika, who will essay the role of a young girl wanting to study in the UK.
Post Angrezi Medium, Radhika will star in Dinesh Vijan’s Shiddat. The film will bring together actors Sunny Kaushal, Mohit Raina, and Diana Penty. Shiddat will be directed by Kunal Deshmukh and shot across London, Paris, and Punjab.
