Trigger Warning: This article discusses sexual violence and abuse, please read with caution.
A few days ago, a post gained extreme visibility online; An Instagram page by the name of @punishmyrapist shared a detailed and disturbing description of how the writer of the post was roofied and raped by a man named Heetik Shah. The 21-year-old woman said she met up with Shah after being Instagram friends for some time, when the two moved to a second location that night, she recalls blacking out after a few drinks and waking up to being violated by Mr Shah.
The most shocking part of this entire situation is that she filed an FIR against Heetik Shah, but he has not been arrested because he’s applied for anticipatory bail.
And, apart from this, one of the comments under the post revealed that Mr Shah is allegedly a repeated sex offender, apparently when he was in school, he had assaulted a girl from 6th grade. How terrifying is the possibility that it has been years but no one has even caught onto these things?
Here are the responses people have had to the entire scenario. Clearly, people are infuriated (as they should be). It is unbelievable that the accused is yet to face any legal consequences.
We don’t wish these kinds of circumstances on anyone. Still, we also wish for a faster, more efficient legal system to protect anyone who has faced abuse and violation of any kind.
