Priyanka Chopra is living the American dream with one successful venture after another. Our desi girl is everywhere and doing everything. But PC has had her fair share of struggles along the way. After making it big in Hollywood, the actress has been hella honest about how unfairly she was treated in Bollywood.
In an interview with a digital platform, PC opened up about her early days in Bollywood. She shared that she was offered an undercover spy film but the film’s director was more interested in checking out her ‘underwear.’
“This may have been 2002 or ’03… I’m undercover, I’m seducing the guy – obviously, that’s what girls do when they’re undercover. But I’m seducing the guy and you have to take off one piece of clothing (at a time). I wanted to layer up. The filmmaker was like, No, I need to see her underwear. Otherwise, why is anybody coming to watch this movie?” said PC.
PC further added that the filmmaker said this to a stylist and it was a ‘dehumanising’ moment for her. “It was a feeling of, I’m nothing else outside of how I can be used, my art is not important, what I contribute is not important,” added the Mary Kom star.
Without a second thought, she walked out of the project and never looked back. Upon her dad’s insistence, she also paid the amount the production house spent on her for two days. This incident surely left a scar on PC’s mind.
I can’t believe how deeply disturbing this whole thing was! PC was objectified in the worst way possible and it is inhuman. The fact that the man in question thought that an actress’ worth is what she can show is so sexist.
It is impressive how far she has come. The whole world knows all about PC’s talents and that’s what you call levelling up!
