Priyanka Chopra is India’s shining star. From being one of the only few Indian actors to have earned a place for herself in Hollywood, to receiving a humanitarian award by UNICEF–is there anything she can’t do?
Fans adore her not only because of her acting prowess, but also because she is unabashedly real when it comes to her truth. Last year, PC set a lot of tongues wagging when she decided to tie the knot with American musician and actor, Nick Jonas. The media and trolls gave a lot of attention to the fact that Nick was 10 years younger to his wife–a fact that would have been a non-issue had it been the other way round.
Priyanka and Nick recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary on December 1, and PC surprised her husband with an adorable German Shephard puppy who the couple now call Gino.
In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, an international publication, the The Sky Is Pink actor opened up about what it actually means to marry a man younger to her. “Clearly it didn’t matter (to us). But I just feel like people talk about it a lot more when it’s a woman that’s older. Most guys end up marrying younger women. It becomes a conversation when a woman is older. It never was a conversation for us. It was more of a conversation for the world than Nick and I.”
She further went on to talk about how Nick is an ‘old soul’ and has a mature way of looking at the world. She has also mentioned that one of the reasons their relationship works is because they both have a strong work ethic and understand each others’ busy schedules.
“We both have prolific careers, but we both knew that about each other when we started dating. And that’s the one thing we loved about each other: that we both love our work, and give a lot of time to our work. We both fly across the world and meet for like two days and then go back. Then meet for three days, then we go back. FaceTime. Video calling, thank God, has saved a lot of relationships,” she said.
To add to her list of achievements, the actor recently received a tribute on Marrakesh’s main square for her contributions to cinema over the past 20 years. On being asked about her formula for success, the actor said, “There is no such thing as a free lunch in the world. Persistence. You cannot give up on an idea until you have gone all the way, and second, not to be afraid of hard work…If you want to make a movie watched in the square by 30,000 people, you have to work very hard to attain that credibility.”
She is such an inspiration, isn’t she?
On the work front, PC was recently seen in Shonali Bose’s The Sky Is Pink, which received a standing ovation at the Toronto Film Festival. Presently, she is shooting for Netflix’s movie adaption of Arvind Adiga’s Booker Prize-winning novel, The White Tiger.
Well, we think that Nick and Priyanka give us serious #CoupleGoals and we hope they continue to thrive together!
