Wedding bells have been ringing in the Chopra household ever since Priyanka Chopra Jonas got hitched to Nick Jonas last year. Soon after, her brother Siddharth Chopra and his girlfriend Ishita Kumar had their roka ceremony in Delhi this year. Both Priyanka and Nick flew to Delhi to attend the celebrations. Last week, the Quantico actress landed in Mumbai and rumours were rife that she was here for Siddharth’s wedding. But a few days ago, Ishita posted a picture of herself in the hospital, fueling speculations that the wedding might have been called off.
According to reports, Ishita had been hospitalised to undergo minor surgery. Her post read: “Recovering from surgery 💉🤯 Very painful but glad it’s over 🙏”
The rumour about the cancelled wedding started when an undisclosed source reported that PeeCee had unfollowed Ishita on Instagram. However, as per the latest report, the wedding has only been postponed. It was scheduled to be held last weekend but it has been delayed due to Ishita’s surgery.
As per a report in a leading daily, “There are rumours that the wedding has been called off but it is not true. Ishita needs some time to recuperate from her surgery and the families are looking for another mahurat.”
Siddharth Chopra’s roka ceremony took place on February 27 this year and Priyanka welcomed Ishita to the Chopra family with the cutest caption: “So proud of my baby brother. Ishita welcome to the family…you are so beautiful together… I wish you both the best for the future! Happy Roka!! @ishittaakumar @siddharthchopra89 ❤️🎉”
This is not the first time that there was a wrinkle in Siddharth Chopra’s wedding plans. Did you know that he was supposed to tie the knot with former girlfriend Kanika Mathur? After getting engaged in an intimate roka ceremony in October 2014, Siddharth and Kanika were meant to get married in February 2015 in Goa.
Kanika and Siddharth were dating each other for over three years before they decided to settle down. Siddharth, along with sister PeeCee, went down to Goa to oversee the wedding preparations and posted on his Facebook page in December 2014, “Wedding plans. Early Morning flight to Goa.” However, a few weeks later, another post from his account left everyone confused. He wrote, “Single. Ready to mingle. Go Goa Gone. Wish everyone a very happy 2015.”
Seems like fate had other plans. We just hope Ishita gets well super soon and Siddharth finally gets his happy ending!
