In January this year, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas took the internet by storm after announcing the birth of their first child. “We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family. Thank you so much,” PC wrote on social media. The update left the netizens excited and congratulations started pouring in for the new parents. But there was a faction of people who trolled the couple mercilessly. From surrogacy to Priyanka’s age, they had an opinion on everything. So engrossed they were in spewing venom that the trolls did not give two hoots about what the new parents might be going through.
So, here’s the thing. Childbirth is a joyous time for most parents. Sometimes, it can also be a distressing period when the newborn is not doing well. Something similar happened with Priyanka and Nick when their daughter had to spend more than three months in the NICU (Neonatal intensive care unit). Yes, this is the reason why the couple has been keeping it low key and did not post anything about the little one after the birth announcement. On the occasion of Mother’s Day yesterday, Priyanka took to social media and finally shared the first picture of her little wonder. She also shared how challenging the last few months have been.
“On this Mother’s Day we can’t help but reflect on these last few months and the rollercoaster we’ve been on, which we now know, so many people have also experienced. After 100 plus days in the NICU, our little girl is finally home. Every family’s journey is unique and requires a certain level of faith, and while ours was a challenging few months, what becomes abundantly clear, in retrospect, is how precious and perfect every moment is,” PC wrote.
In the caption, PC also thanked the doctors and nurses at Rady Children’s La Jolla and Cedar Sinai, Los Angeles, where her baby girl was admitted. She concluded by writing, “Our next chapter begins now, and our baby is truly a badass. Let’s get it MM! Mommy and Daddy love you.” Well, we’d have to agree. MM does sound like an absolute badass and a fighter just like her mommy.
Last month, an international publication revealed that #NickYanka had named their little munchkin Malti Marie Chopra Jonas. That cute “MM” in PC’s post is a definite confirmation. Well, it’s officially party time now! MM is finally home and we can not wait for the new parents to flood our Insta feed with her pictures. Welcome again, little one. You are gonna love being a Chopra-Jonas!
