This Ponytail Hack Is Giving Goddess Level Volume, Thanks Chris Appleton

While world-renowned celebrities Kim Kardashian and J.Lo entrust their mane to the Los Angeles-based Chris Appleton on most occasions, the hairstylist has amassed quite the cult following amongst scrollers on Instagram too. Appleton’s page is unlike any other. While most hairstylists’ pages are sprawling with photos of celebrities modelling their work, this Brit-born maestro’s Instagram is just as much for his fans as it is for his top-tier clientele.

Appleton’s page is a treasure trove of hacks and tricks for his followers to take cues from and perfect the simplest of hairstyles. Now — he has the Internet invested in another one of his hacks, and it’s one of the easiest ones to come out of the page. This one’s going to avenge your volume-less, limp ponytail — because this very ponytail hack is perfect for fine, thin hair. Read on.

How He Gives Your Ponytail A Lease On Life In Under A Minute

Recently — the maestro modelled a new creation atop Kim K’s mane: a half-bun, half-ponytail that polarized Instagram. Now — he’s back with a trick that, as evidenced by his reel, adds instant volume to your super-limp, super-thin ponytail. All you have to do is follow a couple of steps, and you’re wearing a J.Lo-approved hairstyle within seconds.

Appleton creates a mid-height ponytail around the crown of the head before sliding the elastic back a little bit. This adds some space between the base of the hair and the elastic. He creates a hole in this space by splitting the ‘do into two chunks before folding the ponytail right under the elastic — looping it up through the hole and pulling it back in to tighten the ponytail. You can conclude with a texturising hairspray to play into the volume of it all. And you’re done.
