Last night, many of our favourite Bollywood actors and filmmakers came together for a unique event, where they met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss ways in which Gandhian ideologies can be explored and celebrated through Indian cinema. Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Kangana Ranaut, Jacqueline Fernandez, Imtiaz Ali and Ekta Kapoor, among others, were in attendance and were seen clicking selfies with the prime minister.
Modi is always camera-ready, isn’t he? Here’s him posing like a pro with some of Bollywood’s leading ladies and filmmakers.
The last time PM Modi invited a delegation of Bollywood biggies to meet him, there weren’t any women on the panel. So, this time, we were pleasantly surprised to see Kangana, Ekta and other women at the event.
The evening was organised to celebrate Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary, and the agenda was to discuss how the ideologies of the father of the nation can be promoted through Indian cinema. Addressing the film fraternity at the prime minister’s residence, Modi spoke about how several people in the industry have already been doing justice to Gandhi when it comes to popularising his values and ideas. He also encouraged them to keep entertaining and inspiring the audience in this manner.

“The power of creativity is immense and it is essential to harness this spirit of creativity for our nation. Several people from the world of films and television have been doing great work when it comes to popularising the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi,” PM Modi said, adding, “Gandhi is synonymous with simplicity. His thoughts reverberate far and wide. If there is one thought, one person, who can establish a connect with people all over the world, it is Gandhiji.”
Everyone present there was visibly thrilled to meet Modi and took to sharing their pictures and thoughts on Instagram.

Towards the end, SRK promised to re-introduce Gandhi to “India and the world”. He added, “I would like to thank PM Narendra Modi for bringing us all together, that too for a cause such as this.”
